I still use steinberg virtual guitarist and it does sound better than ujam’s virtual,guitarist. Its less robotic and works better with external amp sims, not to mention you can re-arrange loops. I just Ujam would add a clean Di-out and a humanize function to their guitar instruments. The triggering is also less reliable when changing loops mid-bar etc.

I just discovered UJam and I think their products are great. I like very much that they keep them very simple. They sound really good too.

Carbon was released on October 31st, 2019 with an introductory price $30 less than the full price of $129. Less than one month later, it could be purchased from third party's for just 50% of the full price ($64.50).

Of course I had to go and purchase Carbon at the introductory price just one week before it became available at the 50% off price. I could have held out a bit longer because the fully functional 30-day trial version of Carbon I was evaluating had not expired yet.

Seeing a promotion offering it for free less than one year after its release just stokes the buyer's remorse of early adopters and underscores the lesson to never purchase a newly released product from UJAM, because whatever introductory price being offered to new suckers is just a trap. You're better off waiting for a Black Friday deal. The only exception is if UJAM e-mails to you a no-brainer customer-loyalty discount offer (e.g. because you own every other product in the same product line, such as every VG except for the newly released one).

Yes... you can save a lot of money and headache if you can wait. I've worked through this and this is how I handle it now: if I am willing to accept I am going to pay more to have the tool now, I go for it. But I accept all risks. Otherwise I look at a plugin launch as an opportunity to try the plugin out if there is a demo and even better if the demo is not time limited, and as an opportunity to follow the development and use of the plugin leading up to the time I goes on sale and I can grab it cheap. I sometimes will do the former but mostly the latter. I just wait. It's fine. It helps to already have a lot of other products to keep me busy.

You obviously haven't used Carbon, then, because it has a lot more features than the others. You can play it like a normal instrument if you like, so timing isn't a problem. You can even D'n'D its loops into your host and create a MIDI track, so you can play with the timing if there's a riff you like. The older ones have the Pull/Push thing that works well enough for me.

All my sampler-based instruments are way too fiddly, the Ujam instruments have just about the right blend of simplicity and flexibility that they are much less effort for someone like me, who has never so much as picked up a guitar in his life. The Shreddage thing I have, for example, seems insanely powerful but I can't get anything useful out of it at all, which means it doesn't matter how good it is, it won't ever get used.

Yea Steinberg VG2 is one of those virtual instruments that never gets old.

15 years later and Steinberg Virtual Guitarist 2 is still better than ALL the newer virtual guitarists

In what way? It's no longer available so I can't see or hear it, so what made it so good? I mean, with Shreddage, for example, you can control so many aspects of playing (most of which means nothing at all to me) that I really can't imagine it would have been possible 15 years ago. Also, if it was so good, why didn't Steinberg or Wizoo keep selling it?

15 years later and Steinberg Virtual Guitarist 2 is still better than ALL the newer virtual guitarists

The Native instruments ones I got in Ultimate are pretty darn amazing.

Are you serious? Are you more worried about money that music? Are you more interested in a bargain than in the right instrument for your needs? I happily paid the introductory price and I am even happier that I have got more than my money's worth from it and will get plenty more in the future. That it could be had for half price a few months later and is free now is something I honestly couldn't care less about.

UJAM founder- Peter Gorges, is the person who worked on Virtual Guitarist. He sees UJAM products as the next evolution of Steinberg's Virtual Guitarist. Maybe suggestions could be made on what in Virtual Guitarist should be carried over to UJAM products? I'm personally into clean tones and am waiting for a good clean electric with harmonics ... I realize that wouldn't be to everyone's taste though.

I've paid for other stuff that's later come down in special offers, such is life.

Can't resist the offer to be honest, so have just got it with a sample pack of regular geetar loops from PB, downloading now, can't wait.
