Yeah good point, I remember NI employees being super adamant that no more plug ins were getting abandoned. So far so good there.EvilDragon wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 6:45 pm Those are all good assumptions. Time will tell which will end up being correct and which won't.
I'd just say (obviously IMHO) that never say never. Many people thought GR was practically dead and abandoned.![]()
I was a bit upset though when Rig Kontrol development stopped, (the software for the hardware, didn't see that coming), and it was never a good sign that NI was invested in Gutiar Rig that they never came out with Rig Kontrol 4 etc.
I just wish they would add in a basic preset brain to their MIDI and proprietary hardware controllers. It's just not kosher to have to rely on Controller Editor as the brain of something like Rig Kontrol or Komplete Control for that matter. Any hardware controller IMO should be able to send CC data MMC, and notes without a computer attached. Plus removing support for older controllers in Controller Editor guarantees that the legacy Controller Editor will eventually break on newer PCs and break even quicker on Macs.
That and using soon to be depreciated cheaper AD/DA converters for Kore and Rig Kontrol was a bunk move. I get it that Apple could support it still etc. but Apple doesn't do those things without a reason, there probably were issues with the converters in the first place that NI decided to overlook when using them.
So my trust in NI over the years leans towards, if it's not a huge profit maker for them, don't trust them. GR6 is a good sign for the future though, I look forward to trying it out, although it kills me that they no longer make a foot controller for it. Does GR6 still support Rig Kontrol and generic foot pedals? or is that gone now?
