True fact: they said he was a fish head.

(BTW, he was the guitarist on a project I worked on long ago and he was seriously one of the nicest humans I’ve ever met.)

Buckethead is known for what he did with Guns ‘n Roses, but he’s so much more.

He walked around a lot and took long naps.

I agree! Hung out with Adrian in his hometown of Cincinnati many yrs ago. Great guy & all around brilliant musician, but then he'd have to be to keep up with Fripp. I saw him play with The Bears, KC and Bowie.

I saw him at the 92nd St. Y in NYC in the late 70s performing Bach's Chaconne as well as some of his own pieces. When I think of him in that period I always recall his collaboration with Stomu Yamashta in Hans Werner Henze's "El Cimarron".

And, by the way, as far as I'm concerned, if anyone has their own interpretation of these, or any other pieces or wishes to post the music of some KVR member that in your opinion fits in this thread, please do not hesitate to do so.

Some apparently questioned the sincerity of that album which might have been a factor in Metheny's collaboration with Derek Bailey a few years later.

Anyone who has worked with the likes of Ornette Coleman probably doesn't need critics and fans placing limits on their work.

I included a reference to Ornette in a post while your were posting this? Great minds, huh? 8)

I saw them performing together at the Newport Jazz Festival once upon a time. Not my favorite of Ornette's bands but I wasn't around to get to hear the great quartet and I still enjoyed it quite a bit, especially Ulmer. :)

:D Yeah, that was a fitting intersection indeed.

I did not see them both together on stage, but I've watched Ulmer live at least two times when he was playing this more wild style (Moers Jazz Festival 1985 with George Adams, Calvin Weston and Amin Ali and @Wuppertal) I guess. And I really loved it.

Then a few years later he moved more to the blues. I did listen to a late solo work some time ago and it still had that magic, just more calmed down.
