macOS Big Sur 11 public beta has been released
Let the carnage begin. You know you're thinking about upgrading to the beta, and when you do please post your experiences here.
Honestly, this carnage can be fun if you keep a good attitude. No complaining because developer X doesn't support you latest and wildest upgrade dreams.
What DAWs and plugins are are working, or not??

Under Big Sur, in CoreAudio, if you create an aggregate device you can't select drift correction on any devices.

Why won't you share your experiences with it?
Or you want others to beta-test it for you?

I'll do some testing on a second laptop soon. I'm just waiting for it to arrive.

Nice. I wouldn't mind one of those nice Dell XPS thingies. I'd hackintosh it all the way to test if the BIG SLURM works. If I can keep it afterwards

Besides, it all just being a stepgap before the next big hit ...well.. hits..
Apple is changing architecture all over again within the next few months. Have fun with that.

I’ve also stuck with Mojave because it’s been solid and reliable. The past 4 or 5 versions of macOS have felt like a tick-tock cycle where one release makes a lot of under-the-hood changes and adds a bunch of features, but ends up being buggy and half-baked to meet the launch deadline. Then the follow up release focuses on fixing bugs and optimization. I’m wondering how different Big Sur will be aside from a major facelift (besides the alternate Apple silicon version). Catalina already ripped off the biggest bandaids: axing 32-bit and new security hardening that splits the system into OS and user data volumes.leeleema wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:51 pm I'm still on Mojave, like a lot of users. Catalina was an absolute car crash of an OS. Big Sur? F*** that

it wasn't as much of a car crash as the exaggerated reports have been.leeleema wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:51 pm I'm still on Mojave, like a lot of users. Catalina was an absolute car crash of an OS. Big Sur? F*** that
I've upgraded my studio machine yesterday and there's absolutely zero issues with it.
