Hi,
This is a song I "released" for the August Music Café competition (now closed).
Due to (etc, etc), I am away from the studio. Hence, I'd be grateful for some feedback on EQ settings. For me, it's more about sequencing and composition than production, but anyway...
Hope you enjoy this very eighties electronic song, and have a great weekend!

=== LYRICS ===
Sunny day
The sky is blue
It’s beautiful
And so are you
The ocean cruise
So fantastic
While the seas fill up
With microplastics
Back in the city
The sky is grey
From hundred million barrels
Of oil a day
So put your gas mask on
And carry on
There’s no risk getting stung
When all the bees are gone
Chorus
On this outpost in space that we call our home
Hear the message, the outcry, the plea
From the highest of mountains to the roots of the trees
From the seagulls to the depth of the sea
Come rescue me
And so we spend our cash
But what is it worth
When we have too much money
Too little earth
Divided we rose
Together we fall
‘Cause the world was so big
But the planet’s so small
Back from the city
With a brand new phone
Well who can we blame
When the fault is our own
And when the alien ships
Come down from the sky
They will see the signs
And they will hear the cry
Chorus

wow, EXCELLENT!
well crafted retro synthpop.
an all around impressive production.
no wonder why you are more concerned
about composition, you got no worries
about production because it sounds great.
nothing to critique, only a big

By the way, you might also enjoy a track I uploaded earlier this year; a sort of happy song about breakups.
Once again, a very busy mix. Now when I listen to it again, I find the reverb on the lead vocals really superb. Had to check what it was. Not surprisingly: Eventide SP2016.
Enjoy!

i traced back to your soundcloud and i am now listening to it
as you posted it here.. lol
its as good as your first one, you have a talent
for good melodies, lyrics and arranging.
some other vocalists may chime in pointing
out problems with pitch or processing,
but they sound good to me.
very new order-ish
keep making more. i'll listen

Great, well crafted song! Very 80s just as advertised.
The mix is excellent. The bass is very solid. Perhaps the higher frequencies are slightly lacking but not in a serious way.
I felt it could use more variety. I would have liked a change of pace via a bridge/middle eight section.
The vocals are adequate but not as professional as the synth work. This is a challenge we one-man bands face.
Great job overall!

Thanks for the feedback! As it happens, a middle eight section was actually there in my first version, but it became sooooo long (middle eighty rather) so I cut it out for snappiness. Great that the mix is good. I ended up mixing it on the Soundelux HD 681, a new experience for me.Frantz wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 12:37 am Great, well crafted song! Very 80s just as advertised.

I agree with you on the vocals. Well, it's not really about them for me anyway, and I'd love working with a great singer plus a good producer one day.
It's been a truly pleasurable experience listening to your tracks too by the way, so thanks!

Nice retro track. Nice warm sounds, an enjoyable listen.
Vocals could do with some treatment - thickened up, wider, more energy sung into them, tuned etc.
Arrangement was pretty good.
Overall, very nice. Well done.

Thanks, very kind! Yes, I'd love to record vocals with a proper audio engineer someday!

Thanks so much for your comments. Yeah, I agree vocals are not so polished, so I'm happy you like other aspects of the song more.
Thanks again!
