Ah, right! Yes, that was a very good thing they did.whyterabbyt wrote: Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:21 amMore than that, they made them dynamic in realtime. Originally, they were static.EvilDragon wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2020 8:14 am Well, they basically did a reskin, and made the waveshaping parameters automatable and effects reorderable. Don't recall any other changes, but please do refresh my memory![]()

You already have Dexed and Arturia DXV that do a proper DX7 audio engine emulation. Anyway the FM7 GUI was better.leeleema wrote: Fri Sep 04, 2020 8:51 am Maybe updating the old synths is the only way they can go. Bring on FM9!

It was smaller and way more fiddly and patch browsing was horrendous. It just had a DX7 color scheme, wow.

Yep. FM7 GUI was nice forthe eye and inspiring. FM8 has one of the most uninspiring GUIs from commercial synths that I have. I feel like in Word editor when I look at FM8

Is this similar to what accentize does?EvilDragon wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 12:57 pmDr. Julian Parker and his colleagues actually made a public paper based on this tech, modeling the MS-20 filter.V0RT3X wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 12:50 pm The new machine learning / circuit sim stuff is interesting! No promises for anything, but the tech can do a lot. Except time-based circuits (reverbs etc.)

Maybe somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but that paper basically says 'We took the existing technique of using neural networks as a function approximator and applied it to approximating audio hardware in a very straightforward way'. It would be really sad if NI were given a monopoly on the use of neural networks in audio processing via the patent system.EvilDragon wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 12:57 pmDr. Julian Parker and his colleagues actually made a public paper based on this tech, modeling the MS-20 filter.V0RT3X wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 12:50 pm The new machine learning / circuit sim stuff is interesting! The development of ZDF filters also origins on their research. They never took a monopoly on that either... Its more a research method/idea than a patentable construction model. Whoever wants to use that method can do so and still has to implement it.

This paper explains why oversampling is stuck in the "on" position; for best performance, they would need to re-train the model for every supported sample rate. Simpler to pick a high one and then upsample from whatever people are using!EvilDragon wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 12:57 pm Dr. Julian Parker and his colleagues actually made a public paper based on this tech, modeling the MS-20 filter.

After all that quarrels at NI, i was hoping that the next Komplete would be a bit more spectacular
I will skip this upgrade, but nice to see that Guitar Rig was updated. Making the UI's resizable is long overdue ... especially for a company like NI.

I bought a Maschine Jam, then upgraded Komplete during the half price sale. I don't use the Maschine Jam except occasionally, but i was using the Maschine software (included) with a mouse. I changed onto Bitwig now, but i'm still interested about the development of Maschine software.Synthient Sound wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2020 12:43 am I've been trying to search for the best way to get Komplete 13 (the standard package). Is there a time of year or buy/upgrade way of doing it that is least expensive? $599 is a bit more than I'd like to pay.
I'm hoping someone might have a quicker answer than me digging through years worth old posts over the internet.![]()
Thanks!

The method can still be patented regardless of it being used in software or not. Either way, ICM IS patent pending.Tj Shredder wrote: Sun Sep 06, 2020 6:08 am There is a reason why software is protected rather by copyright than by patents...

No, that paper has nothing to do with old amps (old modeling tech, unrelated to ICM) always being set to HQ mode.imrae wrote: Sun Sep 06, 2020 8:47 amThis paper explains why oversampling is stuck in the "on" position; for best performance, they would need to re-train the model for every supported sample rate. Will skip too for the first time. I already bought some of the newly included libraries anyway. Not much interest in GR6. So paying $600 for UC Edition makes no sense for me.audiot wrote: Sun Sep 06, 2020 1:58 pm After all that quarrels at NI, i was hoping that the next Komplete would be a bit more spectacularI will skip this upgrade, but nice to see that Guitar Rig was updated. If there were updates to Battery, FM8 and Absynth that would be a different story. But they all seem like EOLed.
