Is that the J to the L-A-D-Y?
Foxy mama, you got it going on!
But I'd still be more impressed if you were Neneh Cherry! Then I could atleast ask you to get me Y'ssou N'dours autograph.
You go girl!

Oh dear! Now that I hoped you'd not have come across. There are many factual errors there and I'm not feeling the pictures they yanked from Vibe (of me on the new york subway, that photo shoot was staged and they put me in grungy oversized clothes that I'd never be wearing, outside of working out or lounding at home. Them: "This is hip hop". Me: "I live in philly I know what hop hop looks like, this is "bum frump" If i had it to do again I'd never have done that shoot or the Vibe interview. I had turned down others like with Playboy and Newsweek) and the one of me performing with the ASR-10 that was taken and placed in Rolling Stone... Not a bad photo but I look a lot better than both of those in reality... I guess I'm too self critical.
But thanks for the comments

I can't comment on the "factual errors" but I thought it presented you in a good light and liked the subway pic.
I also thought the stuff about Jazz influences was interesting. The thing I've always liked about the drum n bass I've heard (I have a few CD's by Goldie, DJ Krust and Roni Size and a couple of compilations but I'm no "expert" - must confess I haven't heard yours but will now) is that it reminds me very much of Jazz structures - especially of Archie Shepp (who is one of my musical gods) - I have no idea if that was an influence on Goldie but some of the tracks on Timeless for example remind me so much of Shepp. A lot of drum n bass is also wonderfully "experimental" (to use that much misunderstood term) - for example "Coded Language" by Krust and Saul Williams - one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard imho.

You looking fine to me Lady J with your baaaad self.
And a Philly girl too, huh? I went through Philly once on my way to Allentown... I'd rather have chilled in Philly if I had my way.
(And no Lady J - I'm not no P Diddy player icin' chumps that brought down Notorious and all - I'm a skinny white boy that loves trains is all. Leheigh Valley, Bethlehem Steel, Reading, see? Bet I had you going there for a minute didn't I? I'm just a little boy who likes BIG toys!
)
But yo my fine Lady, if you be succesful enough, maybe you can be my BIG toy too?
- just like gettin' all up on Lady J, but she's pretty cool and hip IMHO.

Krust, Size, Goldie, Saul Williams... All great stuff! I was influenced by a lot of the same artists they were. Maceo Parker, Idrius Mohammed, Incognito, Weather Report, good stuffaMUSEd wrote:I can't comment on the "factual errors" but I thought it presented you in a good light and liked the subway pic.

Krust, Bryan Gee, and Roni are all safe too.
