What's New in the Beta

Hey all..
I have started this thread to post the "What's New" videos I have been doing. Since nothing in the beta has anything to do with 3.8x anymore, there is nothing that will be posted in the user guide area in tips and tricks from here on..
I also started a new playlist for the beta as well. Eventually, I will remove any beta videos from the user guide and put them here as well.
Even if you are not using the beta version, you at least can keep up with the progress on the new RC.
If you are using the beta version, you may want to watch these to be sure you know how to use the new features. (sometimes it may not be obvious..)
Anyways, I kick this off with a what's new in beta 34. Please note, I mentioned an issue that I thought was present using the chord generator, 3/4 simple interval, but after further review, it is working correctly. yea, a senior moment for me.. it happens.. lol

The Beta 36.. Showing off the new meters, color options and a new/old bug.. If you set a generator to repeat, drag it out, then cut the phrase using the timeline function, it does not render the phrase first..

Thanks BluGenes.! My one suggestion with these; I know it must be tempting, but keep to 'What's New' in a 'What's New' video...
Demos of bug/problem reports should be separated out.
(though, the 'Folder Track' info was helpful mind..!)

In that video/case, yea, it's an old bug I found. I'll keep the old bugs out for a bug video, but, if it is something new and bugged, I will point it out.. thanks.. always looking for improvements..
Also, just note, I could have edited out my mistakes, like that quick key press that I first assumed a bug. But, it does show a typical work flow behavior that a lot of people might encounter. Why I left that in, and you may see stuff like that in the future.. It also gives Attila an idea of how people may use his software..

lol yea.. dusted off my 3d software and had fun with it.. I actually did several which will be randomly added at the end..
also, I have to correct myself as I said that the track color wasn't working.. It actually is working, I was looking at the track header and forgot about the thin bar to the left of the header. That is what changes in color..

Hi Blugenes, Nice vids, thanks for ur effort in making us those tutorials.
I notice that there are purple lines in the workspace,
are those new features. what does that define, mine as its 3.84 has a setting with root note light green and others being dark green, and scale notes shaded as light colored
Here
And also, this might be dumb question, but anyways wanted to ask, so here its.
The chord selector windows has a highlight feature, for each chord, haven't utilized it much, or dint know why its there.
I'm talking about about this,
It hightlights the chord buttons in that group, and the highlight decreases when another chord button is selected like this..
I hope im explaining clear, Much appreciated if Blugenes or anyone could shed some light.. or haring the links to videos/threads related to that..
Thanks

The workspace colors I have changed in settings. They are listed in the user interface section of settings. 3.84 has the same settings, just it looks a little different in the beta.
I changed the colors because of a new note parameters naming convention that is not really working for me.. hehe.. So I wanted to be able to identify what notes are what as best as I can.
This is what I am using now.. note that the setting for "workspace shaded key" is for scale/key signature notes (light gray).
I set the chord and root notes a brighter color, and any transposed are the same color just darker.

In this picture, you can easily tell the scale notes (blue), chord tones (green) and out of scale notes (red). Also, since I set the root note as yellow, with the chords on the right, you can easily see the inversions. (Purple being chord tones..)

The chord selector
The blue highlight in the chord selector shows what chords share the chord/scale notes of that scale for the selected mode. The mode is the roman numerals on the left, i.e., I,II, III, etc.. Just click one or more of the modes to see what chords share scale/chord tones..
at the very top is a button "scale", if you press that it, highlights everything, but, that is what turns that on or off as well. If you hover that button it explains this as well.

This one has a crash in it and I think I isolated the preview bug... also, Piano Chord Pattern is locked scale when dropped on to composition..

Thanks, BluGenes!
Please note that the Piano Chord Pattern Generator is locked by default, that is not a bug.
It is locked because it sounds better, and the user doesn't have to look for the "Lock" feature in the inspector. Of course the question is whether it is still needed since we have the lock button displayed for phrases.
About the piano keyboard: if you touch (drag vertically or zoom) the piano keyboard, automatic zoom gets disabled. In order to make it enabled again, you need to double-click on the piano keyboard in the track header.
The crash you found is frightening, I don't know how it could happen.
I'll test it more.
