After 36 years of unfinished songs due to my ADHD, I recently found a production partner which I agreed with to work together to finish some of the stuff. Luckily, he is the opposite of my ADHD, organized, gets shit done etc. Also, he complements me in other ways. As well as he is working towards the same goal towards being more active in the music business.

Just a tip for those with ADHD or trouble finishing songs in general: find a production partner.

youre lucky you can find someone willing to put up with you

I definitely need a “production partner” who can take my good ideas (the compositions) and substitute all my crap (the playing/singing/recording) with good stuff.

What genre fits ADHD?

I have no such luck! I did try... I was ghosted by every man, woman, and thing on earth

I pointed at a UFO once, and said "you going to help me finish my stuff?" it quickly moved off faster than any man-made craft

Finishing songs is never easy. best is to get inspiration from anything. Mine was a member here who produces a song everyday. Talented guy with great music from rock to EDM, and everything between. Thank you Steven :) You are my inspiration :tu:

One song every day?! We are probably not talking about art, are we?
Sounds more like bulk production, maybe the result of obsession or obligation.

I'm gonna move this to EE...honestly it belongs there but also less acceptance of nonsense inappropriate posts.
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

you would agree, the more you do something, the better you get?
some people will work on one piece, to repeat and get better, doing the various aspects of mixing.

others, will finish one piece, hear whats wrong, and amend that skill on the next, repeating the processes but on a new piece.

either way, is a repetition and becoming accustomed to what works and what doesnt.

so maybe its a commitment to progressing :)

That's the point. According to that logic, the person would produce perfect songs after a few months. But I doubt that very much. And production is only one part of music, what about the artistic output? Not even highly proliferous geniuses like Stevie Wonder in his best years produce a song a day.

Sure, usually one gets better by practice, but only up to a certain point. Haste makes waste, as they say :hihi:

well yeah, if you do a lot not everything will be great!!!
tbh, hes slowed down now, as hes realised himself, spending the extra time is worth it.
but he has improved, even if only more recently, more importantly, hes doing it!
procrastination is the great destroyer (believe me :hihi: ) i can see why he would be an inspiration, regards work ethic :)
