Limiter no6 is a wonderful beast and, unlike, say, L2 or Pro-L, actually has several separate modules that can be used together or individually for limiting/compression duties, including clipping, which is another way of achieving greater perceived loudness (by using distortion to cut off peaks), but not always part of a limiter/maximizer (limiting originally existed to prevent clipping!)

So yeah, I'd say it's a very complex volume knob(s), with clipping, M/S, and multiband processing. :D

yeah Limiter no.6 is like a swiss army knife. so many tools to keep peaks under control and raise the rms. I've bought the TDR nova DE and slick eq GE, but I don't see any incentive to pay $50 to upgrade from the free vladg / variety of sound version to the TDR version just to get a different UI. I'm happy with the old UI as it reminds me more of vintage hifi equipment, and I doubt there's a heap of difference between the two really ?

Better metering, re-orderable modules, stereo options, different clipping setup, compressor modes. For me it was worth it but a lower priority than the EQ upgrades.

TDR stuff ROCKS! I'm planning on getting the DE version of Nova very soon; indispensable.

I suppose the biggest difference with the TDR Limiter is that you can rearrange the modules, so that's pretty powerful (plus updated loudness metering).

For me, I have no choice but to get the new Limiter 6, because MacOS Catalina.

Ok, you guys convinced me.
Didn't realise the modules could be re-orderable. That makes it a bit more like nomad factory's AS Studiorack, and the difference between pre and post can be pretty radical on a rhythm part. I guess the updated metering would be an advantage too.
I already have a few Boz digital labs clippers, and standardclip, and some very good plugin alliance limiters, fabfilter pro L 2 etc.....but this will make a very nice addition =)
The only question is, shall I buy it now, or wait until Black Friday which is only about 8 weeks away......

Post

With all those sexy limiters? You might as well wait. ;)
