Creating Music Videos?

I want to do something like this for one of my upcoming new songs; No story, just random, surreal imagery. I love this video.

I want my next video to look a lot like this one -



The thing is, something like that is quite achievable today but wouldn't have been worth thinking about 5 or 6 years ago. I can download the characters from Mixamo, where you get to choose from heaps of pre-built, pre-rigged character models and hundreds of different, customisable animations already baked in, ready to place in your scenes. All the other 3D stuff is available in free or low-cost packages and I can put it all together in Blender, which is also free, and have some hope of rendering it all out in my lifetime. 10 years ago rendering stuff that looks like that would have been the job of a warehouse sized render farm but I can use Blender's real-time renderer to do it in a few hours on my laptop today and get high quality results.

I made one for this lo-fi attempt i did last year. I used this FOSS ffmpeg bash script to add effects and randomly chop up an image of my kid doing a cart wheel with the Toronto background in the back. I used the video creation that comes builtin in with FL Studio.

I am just getting started with video production myself. For now now I am using Reaper's included video processor. basic but real functional and it gives me an opportunity to figure out more about what I dont know ......which is almost everything. This video was done on zero budget using a Samsung phone. I used the effects mainly to disguise bad resolution due to zooming and terrible light. It was my first and a great experience.. I too am now on the search for something that will take me a bit further but really I have found Reaper to be quite capable. I really like being able to automate video on a real audio timeline.
