Sorry i didn't fully understood your previous post about this, but indeed MUX's PolySynth does not yet support poly pressure to modulate individual voices.

Ok thanks the answer!

It'd make things more complete if MuLab's instruments could be modulated with poly AT :)

Post

As start would be a Poly AT to modulation module - pretty much identical to the Note to modulation module.

I guess once a voice inside a PolySynth is triggered by a note on, if the Poly AT note number matched the voice note number, any poly AT going through it would get converted (subject to range) and apply to that note's voice. I guess this is the tricky bit.

Else if the poly AT converter was outside a PolySynth, any poly AT going through it would get converted (subject to range).

Honestly MUX/Mulab would greatly benefit from MPE support. However, that's a difficult beast to tame as that would require a restructure of the underlying MIDI and event system. Perhaps for M10 or a major 9.X version. Let's not pile too many things onto Jo's plate at once ;)

Projects saved with M9 will certainly not be openable with MuLab 8.x or down.

MuLab 8.6.22 is available in http://www.mutools.com/mulab/beta/

What's changed:
  • Sometimes monitoring audio was routed directly to audio out instead of Preview Monitor rack. Fixed.
  • Streaming audio files with a different samplerate than the current samplerate and with a data format different from 16 bit integer or 32 bit float did not properly work. Fixed.
  • New shortcut options for scrolling and zooming editors. See MuLab -> Shortcuts.
  • In some cases the full zoom out (aka Overview) editor functions were not working correct from the first time, they needed a double trigger. Fixed.
How to update MuLab:
Windows: Replace the current MuLab.exe and MuLab.ID by the new versions.
MacOS: Replace the current MuLab.app by the new version.

Maybe MIDI 2.0 will do more than MPE and perhaps no core changes are needed.
Is that right?

MIDI 2.0 would still need some serious core updates in many DAWs as the packet size increases, not to mention 32 bit data (MIDI 1.0 was 8 bit!!) clear up to 128 bit data. In fact I believe MIDI 2.0 may even support floating point information, which is a whole different ballpark from MIDI 1.0.

Of course refactoring + a lot of time supporting the new data is possible, but it would require some big updates to the core MIDI engine of any DAW. The most prepared DAWs are those that already support MPE.

Yes, MIDI 2.0 can technically replace MPE. It's going to be a long while before that gets supported widely though. I mean, MPE has been around for a while now and it's still a niche (but very awesome) feature. Studio One only just barely got support for MPE in it's latest version for context.
