I'm looking for a stomp-box,or maybe a rack-mount delay to run with my guitar amp
At the moment I'm leaning towrds the Boss DD-20 or the Line-6 DL-4. I want to run it through my effects loop on my amp
Anyone have good or bad experiences with either?
I figure since I am into high gain (from the amp) at the moment I would have to run the delay through the loop, is the right?

It's quite a while ago I've used any delay stomp box, but I can tell you this. I never bothered to use the effect loop on the amp.
In the old days my amp (Vox AC50) didn't have one, and my main overdrive came from a stomp box routed before the delay. The amp itself was also a thad overdriven. It has something to it that the delayed sound is less overdriven than the direct signal.
My current amp (Orange OD120) does have a loop, but whenever I plug something in there all the overdrive of the pre-amp is gone. Maybe its due to the ancient design, i dunno and honestly i don't really care anymore.
So basically I advice you to try it out with your own amp, and see weather it works for you.
Also maybe a multi-effect unit (with chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo, pitch shift) is something to concider. I had it, been there... Liked it and disliked it. Now I'm back at just the plain guitar with a Boss BF-2 flanger. Maybe in 5 years I'm back to all digital.
