Hi all, i'm really curious about that price tag cut buying K12UCE at thomann or other dealers. In my NI account i have K9U Crossgrade, K10U Update, K11U Update e K12UCE Upgrade for K8U-K12U. So i wonder if i can buy another K12UCE at reduced price at thomann and get the free update to K13UCE since the normal price at NI is 499€ (really high imho).

Best message Support to check. I read elsewhere that someone asked pretty much this question and was told "no problem" - you can have 10 identical upgrades if you like and anything registered this month will bump to 13, but that's 2nd hand info so I'd definitely check.

The one upgrade I remember you can't do is if you own Ultimate, you can't get a Regular upgrade and just get the new stuff for regular - you have to do the higher tier upgrade. Otherwise they seem to be anything goes.

So if I have Komplete 12 and want pharlight and straylight and some other stuff in K13 ultimate. So I'm best waiting for the half price upgrade next summer? cos I don't fancy paying £499?

Thanks. A chat with NI confirmed that we can do this "trick". I just bought a K12UCE upgrade for 299€...finger crossed...it wil arrive on September 21/22 and i'll register it then claim for the K13UCE update for free.

It seems that K12U Upgrade is not available, else that would have been ideal for you. But if you are in UK, this is your best bet (422 GBP) if you don't want to wait until next summer and get even more stuff by getting K12U CE, and then eventually K13U CE for free.

I think I‘ll pass this Time. The new stuff is not really worth an Update from K12 ce!

I have to say, I’m not super impressed with the Ultimate and CE lines. For someone who doesn’t own other string libraries I suppose CE is cool, just that 90% of the added content for me is fluff. Sample libraries sold as creative tools when they’re mostly just heavily layered with effects. Kontakt creative instruments in general don’t do it for me. I like the Reaktor instruments but even half of them are basically “players” with the allusion to creativity.. We have huge guitar and bass libraries as well. I’ve never used any of that. The take on UVI Toy museum is another drenched in FX player that doesn’t sound like kids toys at all to me..

Same with the Maschine packs, too many sounds pre made for a genre and not enough actual drum sounds. Akai is just as guilty to be fair. XO sorted that for me at least, but the samples in a lot of these player libraries are locked away... bligh!

of course but 99% of the time I would rather use a synth or raw sample. IMO there’s a huge difference between drum and classical instrument sample libraries and this tendency to give be you Kontakt and even Reaktor players that carefully give you nice sounds. I’m just facing the fact that the Uktimate collections aren’t really for me, probably upgrade to regular when 14 comes out in a couple years.

They confirmed the validity and everything and I confirmed if I will get K13U CE for free if I register this now. They said yes, and there went my serial number in Native Access (14th September, 2020).

Hello, sorry if this point has been mentioned before, but I find this a really bizarre commercial approach...

For the past couple of weeks you have only been able to buy Komplete 13 on the NI website - you can no longer buy Komplete 12. I purchased Komplete 13 (knowing that the “release date” was 1st October) thinking that SURELY you would be able to download the currently available component products of 13 (which are not charging when 13 is released on 1st October), but you can’t ! You need to wait until 1st October. So I am stuck now and can’t even download the current version of Kontakt etc. I find this very odd.

I am sure this must have put people off buying any Komplete bundle for the whole of September - what a strange decision from NI given that this must be seriously impacting their cash flow ?
