I hate 101s and I really hate 303s. In fact, the SH101 is the most boring, generic sounding synth I think I have ever owned. It was a great workshorse at the time, because it was easy to patch on stage, but the sound was very bland. The way we use Wasp is all about velocity modulation to give a bassline life and movement and the way Wasp's resonance responds to that is something that's hard to emulate in other synths. It's a style I first started exploring with my O1/W's unique form of synthesis. You can hear it on this track, in the first two synth parts - https://deathlyquiet1.bandcamp.com/track/drdeath
Wasp imparts a similar vibe but with a much more V/A feel. There's an example under the guitar in this remix we did a while ago - https://youtu.be/v4lolLj78pI?t=200
The bassline in this song is another example -

Did Richard say why he's not interested?
No but he seemed quite annoyed that I even asked. I got one very terse response that gave me the distinct impression that continuing the conversation was a waste of time. I figured that would be the case but my band-mate was the one who suggested I ask, so I did.

Not liking a certain genre is one thing - calling because of this the work of others "a piece of shit" is a whole other thing.

I've read lots of annoying, insulting and outright super-dumb crap from you (basically every single thing you post), but that's really a new level of low. If I was a mod, I would ban you for this - perpetually. KVR certainly doesn't need you. In my opinion you bring zero value to this forum!

I always hated seeing people trash other people's music on here, especially when they don't post their own.

Credit where it's due - he set me up nicely for his big put-down. It was the putdown itself that was a failure. Seriously, why would that idiot think anyone gives a rat's fat arse what his opinion on anything is? It's hilarious. It would never occur to him that saying "its OK, nothing special, though" would have actual impact.

BTW, I am now officially done with Orion. It's already gone from my Taskbar and as soon as I get all the songs I need over from it, I will unpin it from Start, too. I can't believe how quickly I have gotten into Studio One or just how good it is. With Cubase I always kept one foot in each camp but Cubase will be unpinned from Start before Orion is. It feels like the old days when I upgraded my M1 to an O1/W or that to Trinity, although moving songs from one to the other is lot easier now than it was back then. The opportunities it brings to reassess the old mixes is kinda cool, too.

Enough of this wasp stuff , is it the same wasp as in fl studio , if so there isnothing special about it .
It's a 20 year old design with a regular bi-quad filter
Post a midi file with wasp's filter +env settings and I'll recreate it( probably with tranzistow or reaktor )

Knock yourself out - http://www.novakill.com/stuff/WASP5.zip
You've got MIDI patterns, audio references and GUI screenshots for three different patches, all simple variations on the same theme. The audio has no effects or EQ applied, it's just the raw output from Wasp. I reckon Crusade will probably be the hardest one to get right, the way the resonance distorts.

I just saw that Hydra was on sale for BF, it got me wondering what licenses of old stuff I actually owned. I don't know why I didn't do this a few months earlier on my return to music making after a decade or so absence, but I just logged into my Synapse account. Yes, a license for Hydra, and a bunch of Orion licenses which I no longer know the sequence of. I have Orion Pro and Platinum, and Orion 7.5. Did Pro and Platinum merge into just a number, i.e. 7, or did 7 precede Pro and Platinum? Or have I mixed that up entirely, and Orion 7.5 is the 'basic' version. Pro is 7.0 and Platinum only 6.2. I guess that means that at some stage I decided I didn't want to keep upgrading Platinum but kept upgrading the cheaper versions(?).

I just fired it up for the first time since around 2005. Ah, nostalgia. Nice little program, feels like it ought to be a VST plugin... I'm pretty sure it was a rewire slave? I guess that was just the Platinum version?

Hydra is quite nice actually, and the sf2 content for the sampler is nice too. Does anything still play sf2 files these days, or is sfz the only game in town?
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

There is no basic version, you should install Orion 7.5 or kindly, ask Richard for the last 8.6 version
It was a rewire slave and master but the last version 8.6 drop the slave option

So the Pro/Platinum distinction was dissolved?

There was a basic version but it's not in your account anymore

The Platinum version was the only one to be sold, so the platinum distinction was ditched
