Yep, definitely! Not proper trance? Well, they were on a few trance compilations at the time and I definitely heard them at a few hard house/trance nights. Never heard the term 'breakbeat trance'? I am dissapointed that no one mentioned Paul Oakenfold, or DJ Tiesto, some of my favorite trance artists. I also enjoy Juno Reactor for techno - check em' out.

MMMMMMM, Ajare, YUMMY, a true classic. Also, what was the WOW track that has the JFK samples in it? I think its on the B-side of Ajare... (eidt: DUH, it was "Domination". I am an idiot)
