I lost my heart in Cap de Creus

Post

Live has the chat, so to speak.

After four years of using Bitwig as my main DAW I decided to try the Live demo, which is a very generous 90 days. I'm actually really enjoying it. There's things I miss (from BW) but, you know, swings and roundabouts. If there's a Black Friday offer on it I might bite. Maybe. Pricey though :help:

always such negative waves...

especially as we all know that ableton is superior to bitwig anyway, like megadeth is superior to metallica

Try 2nd hand market (here, Facebook, Reddit). You can score a 10 Suite license for $300-350 quite easily.

Oh really? Didn't realise you could do that. Isn't it a bit, um, risky to buy from an unknown party? Intriguing...

Well, I have a problem that is only exists in Ableton Live and Bitwig Studio! I don't know why they seemed to mess with the midi msgs sent from my MODX keyboard! This doesn't happen with Cubase and Studio One!

I wrote to Ableton's support, but I don't think they can find the solution easily. I really can't ignore this problem! I'm checking all the time the timing and midi msgs sent! I can't continue like this. I will either sell MODX 6 or Live + Push :( I will loose a lot of money either way!
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

KvR has a feedback section, so that helps. Otherwise if I don't "know" the person from interacting with them earlier I ask for a screenshot of their user account, go through their post history, look them up on other social media if possible. I never had any problems and I bought a lot of plugins & DAWs 2nd hand. Just don't fall for obvious scams like Suite 10 for $100, use Paypal's goods & services and in general avoid eBay :)

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

This thread was about the lack of updates to Live (a joke by the OP), it was always going to end this way! :borg:

I am sure as there is an update or even a rumour of an update, people will have something else to talk about....probably in a new thread.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

You don't own Suite?
The problem with Live's LFO (and Shape, Env. Follower) is they're native M4L devices, which means they: 1) load longer, 2) take some 5-10x CPU that Bitwig's equivalents do, 3) have graphical glitches on their displays while you quickly scroll the devices panel.

I asked for native LFOs in their beta channel some 3 months before v10.0 came out and it's still not there. Although to be fair, we've been asking Bitwig to add a simple MSEG modulator since v2.0 came out and it's also not there either, so... Devs work in mysterious ways :D
We were asking for an LFO since well over a decade... once M4L came along, I figured it would never happen in the core app. I find the M4L LFO too annoying the way it steals control of target parameters. I just stopped using it and focused on VST plugins that had their own built in modulation. That worked for me so I just treated it as a not available feature.

Robert Henke stated years ago that it's not possible to include a native LFO in Live because it would need to touch the very core of Live. Although I do rather experimental music and ambient stuff my need of modulators is not that big and I'm happy with the one which are existing. And on my side whether the cpu impact is super high nor Live becomes unstable of a Max4Live device at least since v10. In the end the positive aspects outweighs the negative ones.

I wonder why people do not get a Modular synth when they are in desperate need for crazy modulation mayhem or simply switching to BWS and stop complaining? Honest question btw.
That’s exactly what I eventually feel like it’s the best thing to do since third party VST are superior to built in stuff (meaning there are enough quality out there to pick from) except if you need to modulate eq, effects and alike which do not provide, in most cases, modulation ability.

The thing I observed with my new purchase of Modulat is that their LFO has no impact on CPU (and it’s of course M4L) like the old ones and the consumption is similar to the ones in BWS.
So there is a way to be economical with m4l and also very very stable.

I’m beginning to believe that Ableton will soon surprise the heck out of the DAW market maybe not in v11 but right after that.
