what about one ping only ?

You can even get a supersaw out of that... if you layer 1.000 instances. :P

Apart from that, I don't understand the OP. Comparing apples and oranges, and, what does "hardware" actually refer to?

One of those strange topics where you wonder why the guy doesn't just use Diva or Repro, if they sound so much better than anything else.

it can do an analogue ping rather well, better than any commercial 64bit Win10 synth I've heard.

op just tried the wrong plugins for the most part

Try Roland Cloud, NI Monark & Super 8, Synapse The Legend, Beepstreet Dagger, or TAL payware.
Of course it's possible that you still prefer the u-he synths, but imo the others are at least on par soundwise. There's probably more, but i don't know everything on the planet.
The GAS is always greener on the other side!

nonsense

If you compare a house with a pool and one without, you can live in both, but only swim in one! :D

The concept with several modules in one synth is unique and without competition. However, one would have to compare the individual emulations of Diva with similar ones. For example "Synapse Legend" sounds better than the Diva Moog emulation. With modern sounds I also use Diva rather rarely, others like Dune can do that better.
For Repro this is surely more true. Repro-5 and Repro-1 are excellent. Arturia is actually the only competitor. Arturia has more functions, but Repro sounds better... maybe some prefer Arturia.

Exactly. At least if analog modelled synths are your thing.

That's the thing: Most synths in the list are general purpose synths, and not ones which are particularly modelled on a specific analog synth. That's why it's a bit apples and oranges. And, apart from that, nobody knows what the OP prefers. So, it's also unclear what the things are that the OP doesn't think other synths can compete with.

IMO, Korg's analog synths can't compete with Moog's. Simply because I vastly prefer the Moog sound.

Diva is obviously not cheap..

Maybe op has a price range in mind etc..

For anything around 50dollars and less.
I'm enjoying using Retrologue2,Monark,Vacuum Pro . surely there will be more vsti s out there sounding great.
A matter of personal preference.

Repro is the best one and unmatched. Some others i would say are on par or close to diva are NI Blocks/Monark/Super-8, Tal Bassline-101/Uno-lx, synapse legend/obsession. And Roland cloud. But stupid cloud.

And while not strictly VA, I am equally impressed by the sound of ANA 2 and Viper.

Regarding the Reactions here I'd ask if we're not arguing about a "poisined praise" here, generating an other best of List in the Fly ... :?

If sound quality (which is subjective I know) is way more important than features, I am with the OP.
Nothing to this day to me sounds as good as Repro and Diva.......and yep I know the Synapse trio will disagree vehemently.

And Repro-1 is the best synth (software or hardware) that I have heard.

I have tried

Serum
Hive
Sylenth1
ANA 2
Spire
DUNE 3
Synthmaster
Massive 1
Pigmets 2

and noen of them can compete!!!!!!

But can any other synths out there on the same level as DIVA? Or Repro 5? I want to hear them!!
Diva and RePro are from my favourite analog emulations synths. I'm not sure what you mean by "compete"? Do you mean competing in emulating those specific oscillators and filters?

Anyway, from the list you tried, I think there are great synths and can produce great sounds including analog but they need much more effort in sound design. Still, maybe Dune 3 and Sylenth1 are the easiest to come close from the list.

From the analog emulations that I believe "can" compete with Diva and RePro (in no particular order):
- The Legend
- Obsession
- NI Monark
- NI Super 8
- NI Reaktor blocks
- Korg ARP Odyssey
- Arturia Matrix 12 V
- Arturia OB-X V
... and several others of course not coming to my mind now.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

That's the way I feel about Monark (or also bx_oberhausen or Super-8, to name some others). U-he is great though, no doubt. It's rather the geek factor which mostly doesn't really apply to my needs. If I take a look at Diva's GUI, and see all those tedious analog behavior controls, or the half dozen modules, it just doesn't make me want to make music with it. Hive is more appealing, but, I just don't like its sound.

If we are talking about genuine 'analog' sound reproduction, then I don't think a lot of stuff can compete with U-he.

That said, Monark and Super 8 are fantastic synths.
