Shade Sonic Shades for UVI Shade

Post

This is a very fun and versatile creative eq/filter!
Thanks UVI.

Post

UVI missed the Chance to give an Impression of good Sound in their Demo. Options should just lead to this Goal.

Skipped again.

Well, many modulation effects deliberately make use of "phase issues" for creative purposes.
You can safely ignore that anyway - it's just some random clueless crap...

Shade has a wet/dry control...
"Preamps have literally one job: when you turn up the gain, it gets louder." Jamcat, talking about presmp-emulation plugins.

As a Bitwig owner, not sure how people are saying there's overlap. BW doesn't offer nearly as many interesting curves or filter types. Also, BW also famously has no MSEG modulator which this does. This is beyond EQ+ and Gatekeeper.

This looks like an incredible tool to have. I will probably pick it up this weekend (hey saving money in the long run!)

WTF, this thread is liquid 'have you tried Bitwig?'

No I haven't but this looks great, gonna have to demo. Particularly fired up if this can replace the great comb in Etch.

Yes. Watch the promo video from the 11:00 min mark.

Unfortunately it's VST2, thus the usual PITA quadro channel kludge affair for Cubase users, which kinda ruins an otherwise excellent plugin.

When do you plan to release a VST3 version UVI? A plugin like this really NEEDS that VST3 support for "certain" hosts. :(

Olivier,

Congrats on releasing Shade.

Now demoing it and it is a very impressive plugin. Just an observation in win 10, Reaper 6.14, i7 8700k: it consumes about 10% when gui is visible. It drops to less than 2% when switching to first instrument (just addictive drum2) while still processing audio. So the gui of both VST2 and VST3 version is using considerable amount of CPU. Is there any change that this will improve?

And can we have these new modulators like figure and follower in Falcon?

Post

Shade do lots of stuff UI wise (modulation) hence the CPU consumption but we plan to see how we can address this in a near future.

:o

Y'know.. when people complain about this they expect to be ignored or given some strange justification for why it might be done several years from now..

That's great guys. :tu:

Thanks! So good to see VST3 support :)

Will Falcon and the rest of the family get VST3?

Nop. VST3 make sense here because there is sidechain support and Steinberg had the good idea to not support it while others DAW can do it in VST2... Otherwise I don't see the point of VST3 if you don't miss any feature. Or only when every DAW supports it.

does shade have midi input for midi-note ?
like in surferEQ where i can "play" the EQ bands...

it consumes about 10% when gui is visible.
For those who are getting cpu issues with the GUI we recommand to reduce size of the editor, especially its height. :)
Providing 60FPS animations with a light cpu consumption is on our wish list.

Hi Muki and thanks for the feature request !
We do not provide pitch based modulations, it would be some work to do it properly then it's not on our top priority features yet, we have already a lot of minor things to improve before considering adding new modules.
