I have been checking the gsonichttp://www.gsonic.com/maestro/ website everymonth for a while now and it doesn't look like it will be reposted :( Does anybody know of an alternate download for Mats Helgessons soundfonts? Maybe someone could host them for him?

bump :) and that last link didn't work.

Yeah he makes it sound like there are mirrors out there, but doesn't tell us where they are :bang:
I love the Splendid 136 piano soundfont, but it gets a bit harsh on the FF layer. I've heard great praise about the Maestro piano, and would love to see how they compare to each other, but alas, no download to be found. The damn thing is just as elusive as TitanicSF

Thank you ThUde but that is not the one I'm looking for,the Maestro I want was made by Mats Helgessons, and it is huge, so huge no one wants to host it I guess :(

I offered to host his site for him free on our sectionz servers - in fact we even registered the domain maestrosounds.com for him but then he dissapeared off the face of the planet and we haven't heard from him.

He used to post on the Sound on Sound forum--that's where I first ran across a mention of his soundfonts.

Try posting a request there:

Let us know if you find him. (He might be working on another soundfont...)

I have the soundfont from Matt, as well as his others from the page. It's several hundred megabytes.

Anyway, I have all the soundfonts from his page. The drum kits, the clarinet, the piano, etc. I would have no problem wiring it over to you. I have DSL so it wouldn't take too long, but it depends on you.

And for anyone concerned about legal issues, here is a QUOTE from the Readme License:

If you want to publish this soundfont, please contact

Send me a PM if you want this soundfont. I'll arrange a way to send it to you if you got a good connection.

Also, on the titanic soundfont, I just checked the site today and they are only at 3% bandwidth for the month. So grab it. If not, it opens back up each month until the bandwidth is exceeded. Good luck.

Hope I'm not revealing anything confidential here -- I emailed him to say how much I enjoyed his soundfonts, and he replied after some time saying that he's in the military now. So it could take a while before he sees email sent to the address I used.

P.S.: What impressed me most was his inclusion of incidental sounds in the drum samples... random stick noises and the like.

Just out of curiosity... what's the original filename for this soundfont? Just wondering as I have a ton of old stuff that I have never actually checked out (got all the "soundsite" stuff one day before it went under). Thanks...
