That's what I thought. But for Softube to decide to bring this out, they must really believe there is something still lacking in the current emulations. Maybe you know that extra 2% of accuracy.
Perhaps they stumbled on some secret sauce?, made a mistake in their code which turned out as a happy accident and nailed that last 2%?
I am sure I remember IL saying much the same about Sawer at one point, although my memory often plays cruel tricks on me.

Terribly unimaginative, imo.

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

Would be cool if someone does it. Properly. All the comparisons I've seen so far were pretty flawed.

Yes, especially the one by Starsky Carr.

Perhaps not in virtual eurorack format and guitar fx pedals (which is also included for the 99E, the VST is the least interesting of he package to me)
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

i was o well, but it sounds great. the Mini V3 (and yes that is something you must not mention on KVR) i like very much, even when it are emulations, i use them as is, and the sound is recognizable.. i can program it quite well, many nice patches i made. EDIT: nice patches, great patches, i like the sound, and i am used to program it for years, a low end you can get.

it behaves different from monark, mini v3; the model 72. other minimoog emulation i don't have. i think.

only demoing the model 72. the filter, that is the most important (and more of course), the model 72 filter seems to behaves non-lineair. i can't express in it another way. perhaps i use the wrong term. but it "drifts".

and there is more happening in the bottom. so the oscillators drift also, i.e. non-lineair.

still a matter of taste, the Mini V3 can produce great sounds. the model 72 also.

and the legend etc. etc. and the monark.. etc. etc. not going in to debate.

they sound different, not always. tried to make an identical patch in Mini V3, came pretty close, but model 72, has some trics under the hood. in Mini V3, you can also achieve. didn't get that far, or didn't do it yet.

Sawer is meant to be a Polivoks emu btw.
Yeah I didn't mean to imply that Sawer was a Minimoog emu, just the marketing about the happy accident. :)

Yes, I overlooked that.
The market must be fairly lucrative.

Accepting the point someone said earlier about the GUI is counter productive (my words not theirs), beyond that I am quite enjoying it so far..... (And I already have Legend and Monark (my favourite of the two))
rsp

edit: actually I prefer the layout of this that both Legend and Monark. This is easier to copy old MiniMoog Patches from patch sheets.

Diva is very close to Monark. Those two are closer to each other than any of the other emus I've had or tested. Monark does saturate quite a bit more than Diva. The resonant behavior, and filter envelope "thump" is very similar. The parameter ranges differ quite a bit, so, it's a bit hard to dial in the same values (which is obvious, even on different analog models, those should differ a lot).

The fact that Diva is very close to Monark, and the renowedness of both developers, especially when it comes to analog modelling accuracy tells me that someone did his homework.

Sounds excellent and you can see this also with the CPU consumption that the modelling is a bit more complex ;) Unfortunately no modifications/extensions like with the "Legend" or the Arturia... so no polyphony. But a spread mode for some stereo width.
More a bass synth or for arpeggios and sequences or if you make 70th style of music.
Hmm... but I wouldn't have a real use for the Softube Model 72.

Stop nagging. Every Piece of Hardware is unique and different. Every new Emulation brings one of these Unicorns back to us Earthlings who can then delight in their (completely) different Sound :)

And with every Model we get a little closer to the Day when nobody needs to produce Hardware anymore and Mankind is finally united in U-heism :)

One American Pie plz!

Post

Okay, Softube. I got Monark, okay? :D

At times like this I wish I had money. :(

My worry is the Unicorns will eventually outnumber us, the fight has to start somewhere :)
