Almost impossible to describe it without a reference to a DAW, as the DAW has to do it.IV! wrote: Sat Oct 03, 2020 12:06 amAs for polyphony, could you describe this multi instances technique in a general way, if it is possible without reference to a specific DAW?doctorbob wrote: Fri Oct 02, 2020 11:33 pm Yup mono ... but you can play chords etc easily by assigning each note of the chord to a different instance of the VSTi!
Mostly you would need to divide your chord into separate tracks...
But the easiest is if you own a MPE capable controller and Bitwig. Put Pendulate into an instrument selector, set the mode to free robin and after you made your sound simply duplicate that instance to the number of voices you need... It would turn any VSTi into a MPE capable instrument, you just need to adjust the PB range...
(That would even work with a standard keyboard...)
Maybe if you let us know which DAW you use, you can get a tip for your DAW...

Polyphony ... for all DAW's
One midi track with chords ... use pizmidiPolyphony ... it takes each note of a chord and outputs onto a different channel (round robin, so make sure you select the number of channels to match the max chord size). Route each channel out of this track to different instances ...
Other daw's probably have some splitters built in I would expect ...
In reaper, I would use a folder construct to house this ...

could you please elaborate on your setup. I experimented with pizmidiPolyphony in Reaper to no result so far. Seems that I am too slow to get the proper usage.

Hey Ruedi,
I've PM'd you ... with a reaper project .rpp
If you want to say use a different timbre for the upper register you have to think a little out of the box as you can't predict which note goes to which instance ... but ...
Add 2 more tracks, route the midi to these and at the top of each put JS Midi Note Filter to filter upper upper and lower registers through each track, and then put pizmidipolyphony after that and route onwards to the vsti instances, and you can then make the upper and lower registers sound different.

edit: anyone else looking for it can find it here https://code.google.com/archive/p/pizmidi/downloads ; it's in pizmidi_x64_20111013.zip

Here the drums I cooked out so far using 4 instances of Pendulate "iron bell":

@liqih
Most impressive ! I don't even come close to anything like that. Just Pendulate on it's lonesome or with compression ? At a guess I'd say the latter ; if not, it's (most impressive !)²

Hey everyone, I’m pleased as punch you guys selected Pendulate for an OSC. I’d be happy to offer a copy of Generate to the winner. How do I go about that?

Also, am I allowed to answer questions like how to get white noise on this thread?

Of course! This community encourages sharing tips and tricks on sound design and such. Also, thanks for making such an awesome synth, it's a lot of fun and has crazy sound design potentialDGillespie wrote: Sat Oct 03, 2020 5:47 pm Also, am I allowed to answer questions like how to get white noise on this thread?

Thanks ELEX, there are compressors and EQs, mostly you need EQs to carve the "too wild and thick" spectrum of Pendulate: for this* loop I used: 4 x Pendulate, 2 x compressors, 6 x 4-band EQSELEX wrote: Sat Oct 03, 2020 5:02 pm @liqih

This is brilliant! I tried a lot of combinations, but I really can't get fast enough envelopes to make decent sounding drums using this synth. Making the kind of drums you have made using Pendulate and those minimal FX is seriously impressive.liqih wrote: Sat Oct 03, 2020 7:10 pmThanks ELEX, there are compressors and EQs, mostly you need EQs to carve the "too wild and thick" spectrum of Pendulate: for this* loop I used: 4 x Pendulate, 2 x compressors, 6 x 4-band EQSELEX wrote: Sat Oct 03, 2020 5:02 pm @liqih

If you could just share tips on how you got such fast and snappy envelopes with this synth?
