So did I but then he changed first name and become music producer for some UK based Kraftwerk clone
Can anything compete with DIVA or Repro in 2020?!

Can Urs Heckmann's ghost be summoned to this thread, please?
I'd like to inquire if your ghostly highness will get the new Prophet-5 in order to gain access to Dave Rossum SSI chip, dissect it and give us Rev1 and Rev2 in Repro-5 V2, perhaps?
Also that precious "Vintage knob" for Rev4 and additional fuckeries and random naughty behaviors. Yes, please.

Cyberpunk is actually a literary genre that has been co-opted by the film industry. But I think it perfectly describes what we do, too.chk071 wrote: Fri Oct 02, 2020 3:39 pmI didn't know there were actual Cyberpunks.Or Steampunks... those are rather film or game genres.
After replying last night, it occurred to me that ROAD, from our current album, is absolutely Post Punk -

They should have gone with separate rev4s and rev4c models, and a lower price. Either that or let you use both sets of chips simultaneously in different modes.Ray Leece wrote: Fri Oct 02, 2020 11:54 pm Can Urs Heckmann's ghost be summoned to this thread, please?

to the original question: yes, anything can compete. it's a matter of personal taste.

No nothing can successfully compete with them. Not even the hardware upon which they are based.
Any claim to the contrary is just a bunch of chimp noise.

cut corners and lower prices are Uli Behringer's delight. They should have gone with separate rev4s and rev4c models, and a lower price.
I don't think Dave Smith's interested. by 2020 he must have a fully developed vision of what Prophet-5 should be and how it should be.

I was going to say sommat clever like “synths shouldn’t compete with each other, only for the attention of your imagination.”
But now I’m wondering whether cybergoths can compete with New Romantics. Get them all on Takeshi’s Castle and let’s see.
