Would it make sense to have a "Mastering" dedicated forum ?

I assume it might been discussed already, but i'm persuaded a special subforum, dedicated to all effets dedicated to be used on master track, APART (with perhaps very few exception) from creative process or independent channel strip,...might be relevant and very useful ?

For instance, my personnal policy is to stay on improved habits, i use a plugin like vintage warmer, from decades only because i'm experienced on this one from decades

I's love to include new technologies, like some of the zynaptiq ones (Intensity) or from newfangled audio (EQuivocate) ...but would neeed some advice on how used them in conjonction (or not) with other plugin oriented mastering process, when they might redundant one some aspects (and not others) etc, etc...

So comes this question in my mind that a dedicated forum dedicated to mastering process might be relevant ?

It's all up to you !

:)

I approve this message

Seriously, I really love the idea of mastering sub forum.

Production Techniques should be covering all issues around the techniques of mixing and mastering. (It's not for "being a producer" in the sense of being a DJ with add ons.) I can't see why "tools of the trade" wouldn't be included there, too.

I'm with pljones here. A Mastering subforum would make more sense if there was already a Mixing subforum, which wouldn't make sense either because Production Techniques essentially covers both fronts, I find.

I think parsing tools used strictly in mastering vs also used in mixing is going to be a relatively small subject area.

I support this idea. Now we have quite too much different topics in one place. "Production techniques" refers also to creative techniques and tricks with synths, samples or DAW features.

Yep. Handy for starters. To have a basic mastering setup.

Not really. For the plugin discussion part, there’s already the Effects forum, for techniques the Production Techniques.
Let’s be honest: how many here really do “mastering”? My guess is that for most people that equates to slamming something on the master bus ;)
So I don’t think a dedicated mastering forum would be a bit overkill. Maybe a “mixing and mastering” sub forum in the Production Techniques?

No, mastering is just mastering. Nothing to be afraid of; it's not rocket science afaiac.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Nooooooooo, that's just wrong wrong WRONG!!! :x Everybody knows you should never EVER do that yourself. You must send it to a mastering engineer and let HIM stick a limiter on the master. See, this is why we need a mastering subforum here. :dog: :hihi:
