They are beautiful guitars, worth saving for, because you'll (hopefully) have it for life. And your heart will sing everytime you play it.

My custom Lowden F35 in Madagascar Rosewood and Adirondack arrived today. I am blown away! I had been saving for this guitar for over two years. It’s a dream. :)

I'm working on a cover of Julia Dream, nice and simple for starters, but don't hold your breath as I wanna practise it until I am happy, and that usually takes a couple of months!

Tried to order a Revelation Marrakesh Quarter Tone (I'm fond of Middle Eastern / North African scales), but no luck so far.
One UK shop refuses to ship to Europe, the Belgian shop that carries Revelation guitars says Revelation Guitars is swamped in back orders.

According to this forum post, the frets aren't spaced saz-style on the Marrakech. Perhaps I should consider an electric saz instead? Or something else?

BTW, have you seen the LEGO microtonal guitar yet?

Post

Then again, this guy doesn't need no extra frets - he just bends the string to reach those quarter notes.

Nice! I've been watching Tolgahan Cogulu's channel for a while (arrived via his Bach temperaments discussions).

I hummed and harred about one of those Marrakech guitars for a while and when I decided to take the plunge none were available. At the moment I get my microtones by a combination of slack tuning, tall frets and finger pressure but it's a bit of an inexact science with my ropy technique.

Thanks, been playing it non-stop since it arrived on Friday. I'm mind-blown, and it should just get better with age, something I can't quite fathom right now!

more seriously, hows the julia dream coming along?
awesome choice :D
syd has always been a major influence.

Cheers man. It's a track I have always loved, although it's post-Syd I think. It's fairly easy pattern fingerpicking (i.e. at my elementary level), so thought I'd take a crack at it. Just practising the guitar part for the mo, when I can play it flawlessly at tempo (maybe take a few weeks of practise) I'll record it, once that's down it should be fairly easy to do the other parts.
