I started scanning this thread when the granular feature was added. Sad to see it's degenerated into another KVR demand of virtue signaling. No, I wouldn't call my mother or little daughter that word and I also wouldn't call my father or little son that either.
However, it hasn't been gender specific for ages now and my parents have long since passed on. My children, all being grown, use it to each other and at me, as well as I may to them. However, being the parent in the room means always doing it with love and humor, while they aren't restrained to that limitation. Then it's up to each of us to take it with love and humor and not react to it in any other way.
What and how things are said, may be their karma, but how we react, is ours.
Is there anyway this thread can return to the topic? Or is this another plugin for me to avoid because of its customer base?
ETDT!

Yes please, lets return to Rapid. I am thinking about to develop new special filter-types.
Ideas:
- filtertype morphing (hp/bp/lp)
- filter combis (lp+notch)
- some special lowpasses
- new bandpasses/highpasses (that was in discussion here in the past)
Any wishes or ideas for some special stuff?

I already own a couple that are no longer worth trying to have a cognitive discussion. And one of them I now even won't admit to owning because of the childish cult behavior of its majority. I'm not offended by these preset names and if I was, I process it so I'm not controlled by it. Off-topic can be productive, but this is becoming non-productive to everyone. Whether they admit it or not.
The originally offended person has said more about themselves than the plugin. Most artists would simply rewrite the name or use it to inspire a tune to turn it on its head. Or maybe even contact the developer directly and not use the forum in troll fashion.
But I don't want to waste any more time on it.

Seems to me you didn't even read the 'original persons' post's to understand what the person was getting at, but if you did, you wrongly interpreted it. It's a valid criticism, and one I'd have expected a mature response from, it didn't happen from the start, members of the forum reacted to that in addition to what was pointed out. If the developer responded correctly, acknowledging the point which he should consider looking at to the benefit of the product being sold, then there wouldn't have been several pages on this and the discussion would have moved onto something else. I made the point and with good intentions... In recent days I've probably already posted 1000 words in support of Rapid and what it can do and spending hours redesigning skins for people to use and if one really wants to see more of that sort of stuff and know just a little more about me (not my entire work CV, which has involved demanding work environments from factory, construction to retail, dealing with customers, involvement in film production, music industry ect), one can simply go to the website found in my signature if they wish lol...BBFG# wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2020 5:07 pm

At the end of the day, we are talking about a product that is being sold to the public, and promoted vie this thread, in a competitive market.

Sorry for another off topic post but I think this one fits right in. It even references the word "bitch".

Until now the developer didn't even respond. The only reaction you got was from Mirko Ruta, the original preset designer, and his personal opinion about the so called "issue".THE INTRANCER wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2020 8:26 pm If the developer responded correctly, acknowledging the point which he should consider looking at to the benefit of the product being sold, then there wouldn't have been several pages on this and the discussion would have moved onto something else.
If it's bug reports, feature request or hints to possible issues, you should at least give us time to read the post, check the problem and give a response. Which takes at least a day or two. If you really were worried about this situation, why did you never contact us via support but choose to immediately condemn and denounce us and insinuating with "what kind of message is Parawave trying to send here" that we have some form of agenda agains women?
Now, if you're so eager to get a "professional" statement here is the assesment.
Looking into this and checking about 2500 preset names, the only mention of "Bitch" or other probably offensive words is in the Arpeggiator preset Clean Up My Room Bitch and I guess the other one you meant is the Sequence FXck Da ShXt (it's written that way). I can't think of any other preset. Give us a hint if there's more.
Anyway, from all of the presets 0.08% are named "potentially offensive".
And from this you connote that Parawave is immature and offensive towards women?
That's such a miniscule and silly feedback that we initially didn't even think about responding. But since it's now going on for almost two pages, here is a statement:
Our preset names are thought as unique identifiers with a naming scheme aimed for easy memorization. Some presets describe the content, some describe the character of the sound. Some are niche references and some are just plain and silly. For example: There is this preset called Crispy Chicken. Now we could have named it "Mid-Bass Arp I", or something like that. But that's just too generic in the long term run and would result in many duplicate names. It's easier to memorize patches if you can visualise things or even tell a small story.
Preset names are not social conversations.
Preset names are not insults.
Preset names are not discriminatory.
All in all, the whole topic is just a prime example of jumping to conclusion too quickly.
In the end you did what you tried to prevent. Avoiding uncomfortable situations.
Think about what you did. You offened us by grouping us with some form of hate speech people or domestic violence supporters. That's defamation and if you wouldn't sit in front of a computer you would think twice before publicly denigrating a company.
I'm sorry but the presets will stay as they are.
Every post regarding this topic will be ignored.
Sorry for all the normal people and user that had to bear this.

I think from his point of view the sound designer responded correctly because he responded with what he really thinks. Or should he have asked the ministry of correctness what's the "correct" answer?
EDIT: Changed "developer" to "sound designer" because the Parawave post above made it clear that he's not the developer. I assumed he is part of the development team because he also posted the question about the new filters.

I did read it. And no, I didn't misinterpret it. Whether it is or isn't a valid criticism was lost as soon as you chose this public forum to make it instead of directly contacting the developer/company. Your insistence to continue this instead of getting back to general product topic is more telling of you than the minor fault you find in the overall product. If you want to move on, then simply get back to the topic on the thread subject line.THE INTRANCER wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2020 8:26 pmSeems to me you didn't even read the 'original persons' post's to understand what the person was getting at, but if you did, you wrongly interpreted it.BBFG# wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2020 5:07 pm

On a side road, I am now very curious about the relationship between the Developer (@parawave, who I now assume is Rene) vs @Mirko_R who is the sound designer, as represented above.
With Vengeance I know their Rene K does the programming and Manuel does the sound design. There is a clear cut differentiation between the sound designer and developer.
But with Parawave I was under the impression that both Rene and Mirko code and they both do sound design (although by far Mirko has more in the factory bank)
I say all of this to ask, but isn't Mirko also the developer?
A related (maybe) story.
NI released a Maschine expansion called Black Arc ("The iconic sounds of reggae history’s rich musical legacy"). Part of the expansion had vocal samples that is suppose to represent the genre. What NI didn't know was included was one of the worse curse words to a Jamaican (although I have seen US TV air it without I guess realising to Jamaicans it is worse than the F word). How I knew it was there was two Jamaican producer friends of mine brought it to my attention.
So I emailed one of my many contacts (kontakts if you will
. yes corny) at NI to let them know. They did not know the significance of the word to a Jamaican, apologized, and I am not sure, but I think they removed the sample when they updated the expansion to 2.0...
