According to Bitwig devs, sandboxing does use more CPU, probably because it's a sort of virtual machine, so there's some in-between layer the DAW & plugin use to communicate between eachother and with the OS. It definitely use more RAM, especially if you use several instances of the same / same family plugins, because they can't "share" resources.TheDongeorgio wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2020 9:35 pm i use renoise , rob papens blue 2 which i got today has been crashing a few times in sandbox mode it doesnt , does sandboxing use more cpu? or is it better to leave sandboxing vst mode on ? cheers
On the other hand I'll sacrifice that miniscule CPU & RAM overhead any day to not have my DAW crash down in the least convenient moment

Sandboxing lets each plugin run in its own thread, using its own memory only. Yes, ofcourse that is heavier on resources. So there is the benefit of total isolation, but it comes at a cost.TheDongeorgio wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2020 9:35 pmdoes sandboxing use more cpu? or is it better to leave sandboxing vst mode on ?
That is a bit of a surprise. Please report the issue to Rob Papen, so he can look into it.TheDongeorgio wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2020 9:35 pm i use renoise , rob papens blue 2 which i got today has been crashing a few times in sandbox mode it doesnt
