Hello Together,
During the beta test, I had already collected a lot of ideas to show what possibilities the Fury 800 opened up in terms of sound. Due to various things, a different course has now arisen, so that I could only finish the demo after the KVR-OSC competition
So you can found the *Demo* in https://soundcloud.com/kraftraum/kraftr ... -fury800-1
All presets have been created by me from scratch, given away to Björn for exclusive publication on his webpage under
www.fullbucket.de/music/fury800.html.
I also created another 100 additional presets for the Fury 800, named KF800PP, and also provided Björn exclusively, to be found on the same page.
Take care and a great day for all

WOW! Tape data import from .WAV files?! I can't wait to try this with my old Poly-800 tapes! Thanks, Björn!

Let me know if it works for you... it’s a pretty picky function...

It's pretty finicky with a real Poly-800 anymore too, since the switches that allow us to load data are failing, and getting the correct level to and from your phone/computer is tricky.Full Bucket wrote: Sun Oct 11, 2020 8:27 am Let me know if it works for you... it’s a pretty picky function...![]()
But...while Fury-800 said it imported a .WAV file "successfully", what I actually heard from the various presets was nowhere near what I know the sounds should be. They were also much louder than the stock Fury/Poly-800 presets. Also, "+6dB" and "Bright" were engaged for all the presets I loaded from "tape", when they would not have been on in a real Poly-800. If they're engaged to get the level loud enough in the DAW and/or to make the sound "bright" enough (or comparable to the original Poly-800), that's understandable, but they may be unnecessarily altering what's loaded from "tape". For example, in my tests of Fury-800 where I was trying to match sounds to my Poly-800, I found that "+6dB" was helpful for some presets, but the "Bright" was usually a bit too much. I usually left it off when trying to match presets, but would turn it on for other sounds that I programmed on the Fury itself.
The option to load data from tape appears include "EX-800" data, and it also appears to be separate from the sequencer data. The Poly-800 stores sequencer data in the same file as the preset data, and it can't read some of the EX-800 data. Does Fury-800 parse out the data the EX-800 stores in .WAV files when loading the presets? And does it also parse out sequencer data? I'm wondering if either of those might have corrupted the load.
For what it's worth, the same .WAV file still loads fine in my Poly-800. And unlike some that are floating around on the Interwebz, the file is 16-bit/44.1 kHz, unlike some others, which are 8-bit/22 kHz, or dumped from SoundCloud (or worse, YouTube) as compressed audio data.

Your submissions for the OSC sounded great, and I appreciate the presets you've offered with the Fury-800. Thanks!kraftraum wrote: Fri Oct 09, 2020 2:32 pm Hello Together,

I sent you my files which did not load to your e-mail. I am on a Mac, but tried to load them as well into a Win VM with the same result.Full Bucket wrote: Sun Oct 11, 2020 8:27 am Let me know if it works for you... it’s a pretty picky function...![]()

It is true that all imported sounds are flagged with the "+6dB" and the "Bright" switch (that's true for the SysEx stuff, too) - because that is what was needed when I matched sampled poly-800 sounds to adjust the "Poly-800 Mode" sounds. After all, the original Poly-800 cannot store its overall volume.
When importing data from SysEx or tape the Fury automatically detects whether the source was a Poly-800, an EX-800, or a Poly-800 mk.II, and yes, it ignores any data that does not "fit" (for example it ignores EQ or delay settings of the mk.II - and says so in the message box).
Cheers, Björn

Plastic oxidises and changes colour over the course of decades. Especially the vintage plastic formulations they used in the 80's.layzer wrote: Mon Aug 31, 2020 8:47 am well that doesnt make sense because the background grey stayed the same and
only the turq, white and red lightened up in the sun.
it appears to me that the turq should all be the same shade as the buttons.
no biggie.

The sound is good, but the envelopes are a bit tricky.
Might also make sense to enable linking the two osc envelopes so that they always have the same values, which I suppose should be the case with many if not most sounds.

I guess I didn't really appreciate what I had in the late 80s when I owned a poly 800...it would occasionally go out of tune and ended up getting stolen at a gig, but to me the poly 800 sounded thin. Granted, I didn't have fx to use with it...fx makes a huge difference with synths IMO. I had a Super JX as my other keyboard and that had a sound I preferred.
Not to knock this at all, hey whatever floats your boat! Just curious though, was there anything particularly different or unique about this synth (honest question, as I said I owned one but I was young (and ignorant!) and using it for covers and never really "dug in" much. I do recall programming a sequence for the intro of Why Can't This be Love (RIP Eddie....).
