Why not just keep it wallpaperless? Save some CPU and some eye strain.

Post

Won't save much CPU, though I suppose you can unload about 500k out of RAM, if half a meg amidst a Gig of RAM 500k is actually making an impact. ;)

Get a wallpaper that's easy on the eyes, and there will be no eye-strain, either! 'Sides, most of the time my screen is filled with non-desktop territory. :D

took that advice once (getting bald now)

i miss the wallpaper if it isn't there. i have some ok pictures taken on trips (mexico, guatemala, sicily...) but would really need something audio related for a change.

I make a new wallpaper image for each of my computers at work at least once per week. Just fire up Photoshop and get creative. Sometimes I'll start by taking a crappy lores gif advertisement from the front page of Yahoo, and mangle it into an abstract background. Or throw a bit of packaging foam on the flatbed scanner. Or load up Painter, grab the Wacom tablet, and actually paint something original. Why download other peoples wallpaper when you can do something creative?
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.
