Brings up memories of Gong, angels egg for some reason. Nice. Thanks for sharing.

Has anyone gotten the Galbanum Architecture Waveforms 2010 to work with Falcon?
They work fine in Serum, Hive and Pigments but I keep getting an error in Falcon when I try to use them.

thanks in advance.

No error if I add the sample length per waveform of one WT in the audio file name (Win Explorer/Mac Finder) before drag+drop. Galbanum Architecture Waveforms 2010 = 2048 Samples. Example: Add - BinAdd Arth_2048.wav

Sources: User Guides Falcon (p126) and Galbanum WTs

Ahh.. thanks.
Worked like a charm.
Thank you.
Even with sources :)

I would like to have an XY pad device in Falcon. Does one exist?
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

So Falcon is reading the EXS patches, but not the envelope settings, they're all coming in as zero when I open an EXS patch. Any workarounds? Just found out that Kontakt 6 can't even read EXS patches. WTF is wrong with these companies? Mainstage is a $20 autosampler in EXS format, there's plenty of reason to support that.

Post

Kontakt 5 supports EXS with the right ADSR settings. So does Abletons Live Suites Sampler. I'll send in the bug report.

Post

Kontakt 6 dropped a lot of third party support, by choice.

The thing with EXS is that the format is not open so you have to support it by reverse engineering and it's clearly not an easy task.
Retrieve the full format specification with Apple and I will gladly fixes all those stuff :)

You can create one in script since v 2.0 and manually bind to some parameter in the engine like we did in Drone but there is no X/Y modulation source as the engine do not support one source with two outputs

I understand, but it's probably one of the last reverse engineer-able formats that's possible, and well worth doing. It's obviously only on roughly 50% of the systems out there, but MainStage is $20, converting synths and keyboards to EXS is 100% the easiest. There's still hundreds of cross platform EXS libraries out there. It's not copy protected like Kontakt is now, and you offered the conversion as pretty much the only format that didn't get dropped when you took the code back from MOTU for MachFive3, which supported and converted multiple sampler formats.

In short, I'm not asking for something you didn't offer me in the first place. It's a bug, not a feature request. :)

Post

I'm sort of shocked by downvotes in regards to bug fix requests? but nothing is that surprising in terms of people anymore. Falcon being able to read EXS files opens up a ton of third party libraries, it's not platform specific, and it's supposedly already a feature. Why would anyone not want that?

Post

The real solution is for them to do EXS support like what NI did.
Drop it.

My guess is you would be less happy.

He already explained to you why it has issues. That they have to reverse engineer it, but with issues that you noted. He said that he would need the specs to perfect it.

Why would that be a solution? Less choice is better? What benefit does it serve you to want that?

I'll never get this attitude? There's maybe a dozen libraries available for UVI outside of UVI themselves, as opposed to EXS which is supported by dozens of companies making sample libraries. The difference is massive.

I'm always surprised when people encourage less compatibility between competing formats, it literally has no positive side for you as an end user.

Because we live in a real world with real world limitations (only X developers, with Y amount of R&D time available).

UVI said Basic EXS file format support.
They said above why it is in its current state.

For them to spend way more hours trying to reverse engineer this when they can be working on other features for Falcon, for me personally is not optimal.

Most likely for you, you prefer them doing that, I don't.

Maybe you need to consider checking out, http://www.chickensys.com/products2/tra ... rmats.html

Or maybe you can encourage UVI to (like I know NI used to do) license Translator stuff from Garth into Falcon.
