Just wanted to check in with the readers of this thread -- would you prefer if we posted only Voltage Modular news here in this thread, and moved any other plug-in news to our Cherry Audio forum on KVR? I'm happy to do so, to not pollute this long-running thread. Just chime in and let me know what you'd all prefer.

Thanks!

i was in doubt, but yes, this is the voltage modular thread, instruments belong to another thread, but the forum here on KVR isn't that active as this thread, simply make a new entry in instruments?
works better, i think. no scrolling, it is the net...

You can post an "announcement" in the instruments forum, with a link to the CA forum. That would still keep them separate.

+1 to keeping this thread focused on the Voltage ecosystem.

would make sense, or a seperate post here in instruments, more non customers will see it, in your company forum, its more likely to be people who have already purchased from you, as such may see a newsletter.
this forum, means new customers.

posting non modular synths in here could get confusing, as someone might see the new synth, assume its possible to use the seperate parts in vm. or it may just get lost in the modular talk.

:)

Yes here in Instruments. For me personally I hardly ever go to the vendor-specific forums so never see anything (and hence didn't see the 106 announcement). Always looking here for that stuff.

Getting a little sidetracked with the backup topic, but just one thing to keep in mind which I guarantee will improve the quality of your life:

There are only two types of hard drives - those that are broken, and those that are about to break down (due to bad hardware, misbehaving software, you name it). Huge drives cost next to nothing nowadays, and a backup drive doesn't even have to be the shiniest & fastest around (online backup services are not super expensive either), and all modern OS's have a non-intrusive built-in backup option, so there's absolutely no reason not to back up just everything in your system.

Post

^^^ My for years long "solution" (after having innumerable periodic "back-ups" not work properly) with a fresh install/dialed-in working system, is as follows:

1. OS drive 500GB (as an example)
2. New or re-formatted 500GB drive. (new HDD 3.5 drives are currently $20-$35 US)
3. Clone OS drive. (not compressed, but a one-to-one clone) I use Seagate disk wizard.
4. Label and date cloned drive, and set it aside.

repeat when compelled to do so.

... done.

I loaded the Reason 11 VST3 plugin into Voltage Modular but I can't get the Midi Out CC. I wanted to use Matrix and other Player Sequencers. In Reaper it gives CC via Midi Out CC, but Voltage Modular doesn't. Is this a bug in Voltage Modular?

Ok I'll try to get a response on this thread of Cherry Audio ...

I am getting audio glitches in Cherry Modular on a DAW tuned 3930K system. When I load it as plugin and start moving faders/knobs there are audio drop outs. There are also audio drops as I scale the interface. This persists at any buffer setting regardless of the project that I am loading ... even Cherry Modular only projects. I don't get these drops out and glitches with any other plugins and I have a lot of them.

I also own DCO-60 (fantastic!) and it has no audio glitches.

I have updated my Nvidia drivers , I've tried every gui / thread option in the Cherry Modular plugin preferences and the problem persists. I am not getting ASIO overages when it is glitching. This happens on monophonic modular patches and polyphonic patches. My machine is reasonably powerful with a 4.2 ghz overclock on all core (6 cores / 12 threads. ) Cherry is updated.

As standalone it is more tolerant by I do get audio drops as well regardless of buffer setting. Again the DCO -60 has no such artifacts when running standalone.

I suspect graphic card compatibility issues; GTX 1650 is the card. Perhaps it could be online features where it phone's home to check for updates to the store and installed items.

Any help please?

Any suggestions here?

Hi everyone,

Today we've released an update to DCO-106, with improvements to our chorus effect, CPU improvements, and lots of small bug fixes. You can read about the changes here, in the Cherry Audio KVR forum.

Hi, some/all big presets do drop on my old i5. Though i can run a lot of presets without glitches.
Did you checked that your software update is really applied (by version number) ? I already had update commit issues and at least one old official version had glitches with basic patches
.
It isn't clear how many of the presets are dropping or not on your computer ?
If few of them, modular software can be heavy by nature, i suspect the multi-core support to have not always a lot of applications in a patch soundchain.
I'd demo Softube Modular, which is famously resource heavy, with similar patches, to narrow down the problem (your cpu should handle it ; mine doesn't).
You're not mentionning your daw (sorry if i missed it), if it's a lot better without it i'd solve one problem after the other (maybe solve the modular external app first).
I feel your pain as i went through with some ressource heavy synths, although you should certainly run bigger patches than my computer does with your cpu speed.

the byte oscillator from weevil, in store soon (and i had the pleasure to play with it for some weeks), extensive possibilities, and more to come, check out this video! an experimental oscillator! based on bytebeats, but the possibities are in a way endless, weevil extended the concept, extensivily (the word of the week of byte oscillator, or as i like to call it: the bit roaster), weevil put a lot of great "stuff" in it! so many settings, routings, etc...

yes indeed which DAW. i have these problems, not always, in cubase pro 10.5, in my other DAW's (....) it performs quite well.
