So, the version alert application is hosted on Heroku. The first one is an attempt to connect to a subdomain at newfangledaudio.com, however, I haven't been able to get the dns forwarding to work to push that to the Heroku server. For the time, that's failing, and the fallback is a direct link to the Heroku server. I've been meaning to get around to fixing it, but I've been busy. I don't know why that would show up in your firewall as google-analytics, it's a subdomain of herokuapp.com.

Hi Dan (@DGillespie),

I noticed something in the Newfangled installers; they always default to a very non-standard path for the VST2 64-bit installation:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\VST2\Newfangled Audio

Could you perhaps keep this in mind for future updates so it points to either an environmental PATH (if it's possible for the setup to read it), or to the default C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins\Newfangled Audio? I'd rather avoid the small step of having to re-select the folder every time I update :) Thanks in advance.

Hi BeeDog,

We've been through this a lot over the years, both with Newfangled Audio and Eventide. The problem is that Program Files\Steinberg doesn't exist for people who don't have Cubase installed. We could create it, but that's confusing for the majority of plug-in users who don't use Cubase. We've actually experimented with using a PATH variable at Eventide, but it created problems for users who set it incorrectly the first time and weren't able to change it. I wish there was a standard Windows VST2 plug-ins directory as much as you do (probably more), but in the absence of one we've found that it's best to do what is easiest for novice users and explicitly ask users to set it on install. I realize that puts more burden on people who know what the deal is, but it makes life much easier for newer users. This will all finally sort itself out once we're all on VST3.

It's not my type of thing but can see it being useful for certain genres.
Going from memory I think Cadium has more low end and produces better bass sounds.
Are we talking about Waldorf Wave? As far as I remember the Cadmium 'version' was simply a red one instead of the classic Wave blue. Or?

Back on topic: Has this one a re-sizable gui? I liked Pendulate but it's a shame that the big brother is iLok(ed). I'm out.
The GUI is not yet resizable. This is something we're planning to get to in an update.
Great to hear that. The GUI size is an issue so glad this will be resolved in a future version.

For the rest I'm loving Generate. :tu: Has a very lively, organic sound.
I also like it's using a different paradigm (Newfangled ;) ), mainly focusing on west coast stuff, but in a hands-on, integrated package that is easy to use. It uses a west coast paradigm, but no bleeps and bloops here but usable sounds that have character but are no *too* quirky. And also poly. Nice work!

I would welcome a sequencer that can hold 16 steps instead of 8. :tu:
Even more so, an audio in would be lovely.

Please stop with the mandatory ilok crap. It is not helpful to say we do not need a dongle. The problem is ilok. Oh, and without the dongle there is not much alleged benefit to users. Not that ilok is good for me under any circumstances.

The synth looks good. A shame.

What is the problem with iLok? I think it works very well and is a good way to keep all your licenses organised. I wouldn't want to have a dongle to have to find a spare USB socket for but soft iLok is great. I wish more companies used it. So the problem isn't iLok, it's you.

I use the iLok app on my PC. Everything is activated once then Cloud synched. Never a problem again. I only launch iLok to activate any new products that have iLok. I don't see any problem with it.
Thankfully never had an old iLok dongle because that would have been a headache.

Finally bought it at sale/crossgrade price. I hesitated some time because I couldn‘t tell if it was a classic VI honeymoon. Turned out for me it wasn‘t. In fact I cancelled my Roland Cloud subscription in order to justify the cost.

Thanks to Newfangled Audio for this great synth!
