As I was comparing two synths and wondering why they sounded so different, I noticed that on the website of one of them it says full stereo oscillators, full stereo filters, full stereo everything 8)
It does have various width controls, and when turning them to less than 50% the sound does become more dense and analog in my view. But the filter doesn't have such a control.

Old hardware synths were mono instead of stereo, right? What does full stereo mean in the first place, as opposed to what? Are there two completely separate lines so to speak? Should that even be the case? I mean, doesn't part of a good sound depend on the interaction between waves and voices in the filter? The further they are apart and separate, the less interaction and the sound falls apart. That becomes very obvious on headphones.

my hw vas and fm have stereo outs.
think its mainly the fx in my case though.
dont have any with oscillator panning.

but pads are often recorded in stereo.
only leads and bass need to be mono for placement, really.
even then people will add stereo delays to leads.

but a fair few soft synths offer oscillator panning.
not sure how they achieve it, stereo filters, but probably single control?
:ud:

full stereo means two of everything (osc/filters etc)

stereo would be mono until it goes into stereo fx

there are lots of variations of the two....
