yo eyeryone I'm looking for a host preferably under the 300 $$$ price range that supports DirectX/VST effects and Synths, as well as snap grids, pan and volume curves, and live recording with playback while recording and metronome while playback and record, nondestructive Effects layering, and midi support. (not neccesarily midi recording). also this host would preferably be able to save in .ogg, .mp3, adpcm wav, idpcm wav, pcm wav, and microsoft adpcm, and be able to open and manipulate them too. Another nice ability would be that it could generate stereo graphics and realtime recording graphics. Any Suggestions?

There are alot of them out there. The first that comes to mind is the Home Studio from Cakewalk. I use Sonar 4 Producer Edition and Home Studio is a cutdown version of thet. They have the best envelope curves out there IMO and have always loved the way they record audio. 8)

How much does sonar 4 cost? :?:

Thousand bucks for the full blown version, $500 if you can do without Video sync and some effects and assignment possibilities.

As soon as Magix and FLStudio stop doing everything I need, I might look into it.

i use cubase se which is a nice version of cubase to work with... it is slightly cut down from the full sx but main cut down was number of insert effects which can be plugged to a channel, you can however get around this by assigning tracks to another bus for more effects to be added there.

I bought the studio case and this was £180 - you can get se on its own for less than £90..
