Hi all,

Hope you're all making great music. Any help on this would be appreciated. I'm new to audio interfaces.

Bought a Behringer UMC22 interface. I've downloaded both the generic ASIO4All drivers and also the UMC drivers. The UMC drivers were admittedly found under downloads for a different Behinger interface (UMC 204HD) on the Behringer website, but that's because, as far as I can see, Behringer don't provide bespoke drivers for the UMC22 I have.

The interface doesn't work with Audacity unless I 'build Audacity from its source' (don't understand how to yet). Audacity doesn't support the ASIO4All driver for licensing reasons.

I installed and registered Tracktion 7 64 bit. Under settings > audio devices > device, ASIO4ALL v2 can be selected. However, if I select UMC ASIO Driver, an error message appears saying: No device is connected to the PC. The UMC22 is connected of course. Furthermore, in the device menu, the UMC22 option doesn't exist. Having watched YouTube videos, I believe the option should exist and is needed.

The UMC control panel also states no device is connected. Curiously, the ASIO4All Off-line Settings programme does acknowledge the UMC22 as a USB Audio CODEC.

I've tried tinkering with Windows audio settings to no avail. Might try connected to a virtual Linux PC next. The UMC22 picks up my dynamic mic very poorly but no instruments at all. :(

Windows 7 64 bit Professional
AMD 7750 dual core cpu
Trackion 7 and Audacity
UMC22

Thanks for your time :tu:

I'd suggest uninstalling the UMC driver, disconnect the hardware and reinstall.

Thanks for suggestion

Hi Fastbassguitarist,
Did you resolve your problem? I have just bought a UMC22 and believe I have installed all the drivers suggested by different sources with no luck.
I cannot get connectivity or any sound out of the damn thing. Either through the onboard headphone jack or the the laptop.
Can you assist?

Behringer with their crazy crap naming of stuff..!

I've got one of these to use when I'm away and also have both a 204 and a 404 for use at home so hopefully can help..

The UMC22 has no 'native' ASIO driver (being the entry level option) whereas the others do, which is what you probably downloaded, and why it doesn't work. You need to use ASIO4ALL, which works fine, but not as well a native driver would - e.g. Ican run a lot more stuff on the 204 and 404 at low latency. Still a good little interface for the ridiculous low price mind.

As you say, Audacity doesn't have ASIO support as standard anyway, so whatever interface you use you'd be in the same position. However, the UMC22 standard Windows MME driver should be there as 'USB Audio Codec', which you can use - latency not usually an issue in audio editing anyway.

My opinion: Don't bother with the UMC22 as it doesn't have a native ASIO driver. Pay a bit more for the UMC202HD or better, which includes proper ASIO drivers and 24/192 support.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Got bought a umc22 and downloaded waveform. Trying to use asioforall. No luck. How can Behringer get away with this?

Given ASIO4ALL is a multi-client driver make sure you've opened up its control panel and selected the UMC as the device, and not any internal or other audio device.
