Mixing from back to front

Most spatializer plugins allow for moving the source around the subject, but also close to the subject. How do you make a source move from back to front without moving to the side with Ambeo Orbit? Or side to side without going to the front or back. The idea is for a sound to move from front to back but not be weighted to either side. Does anyone know? Thanks!
