Would it make sense to have a "Mastering" dedicated forum ?

Anything about MUSIC but doesn't fit into the forums above.

you need a forum for that?

:hihi:
Nooooooooo, that's just wrong wrong WRONG!!! :x Everybody knows you should never EVER do that yourself. You must send it to a mastering engineer and let HIM stick a limiter on the master. See, this is why we need a mastering subforum here. :dog: :hihi:
apologies, i assumed it would be for training mastering engineers. the world is crying out for them.
just wanted to be a part of saving the world

Sure, as long as the Mastering forum solely consists of a single locked thread saying:
"Read and fully understand the following before asking any questions, thanks:
https://www.digido.com/product/masterin ... -bob-katz/" :D

Honestly, besides Hermetech (Gregg Janman), bmanic, CompyFox and possibly a couple others, there is not a great depth of mastering mastery evident here at KVR. That's one thing Gearslutz has more of (I can think of a few other things it has that are less appealing :-)).

The GS subforum is exactly what I thought of when I saw this thread. I think it's great to get people talking about the black box of mastering and I think that a subforum could actually do that here on KVR. It's similar to music theory - there's a small contingent of people here that can speak intelligently on the subject, but their input and willingness to share their knowledge is invaluable and it makes the music theory subforum a very useful resource. A mastering forum here on KVR would likely attract (or bring out from the shadows) other MEs, so I think it could be equally useful.

i was of course joking :)
in reference to "the loudness wars" where some years ago, it seemed many so called mastering engineers were doing just that!

not a slight against actual mastering engineers, who know what theyre doing :)

I have seen really good mastering engineers and heard their results. Its only 1% about gear and 99% about ear. They have no time to waste on KVR.
All discussions won‘t help and are covered in the production forum.

My answer: no, not at all...
