Sadly Orion Platinum is discontinued and not longer updated.

I am looking for simple, pattern-based host.
Can you recommend something?

According to @BONES, it's Studio One.

But if you insist on pattern-based, then look at FL Studio, Renoise, Reason (blocks feature), Live, Bitwig, Logic Pro (if you're on OSX).

I think Mulab is very worth to give it a try;
especially in combo with MUX - Modular:

Thanks for your suggestions. I've downloaded Mulab. I am currently testing it. My impression is quite positive so far.

I don't like FLStudio. These guys don't fix technical problems that are well-known since years. I have reported stuff for several times, but all my reports got ignored.

I really tried to like renoise (I am coming frome the tracker-scence and programmed All Sound Tracker). It's too old-school even for me

Reason doesn't work very well with VST plugins.

I tried to like Ableton and am using it for testing, but I don't like the workflow and layout. I am also not sure if there is still really active development on it, since the programmers have left to Bitwig.

Logic does not support VST plugins.

Bitwig is nice and well-done from the technical side. I am using it for testing plugins. I'll give it another try for making music

Studio One Prime looks interesting. Especially since it is free. I'll give it a try.

He is just working on Mulab 9 btw. - so I would just take my time with checking it out.

It doesn't support VST3 but neither does Orion. Which plugins did you struggle with?

the modular environment of Mulab(which has free version now (https://www.mutools.com/info/M8/docs/mu ... sions.html) MUX works beautifully in other DAWs too

(the different modulators can be mixed together nicely (outer CC based ones with inbuilt ones)

Cubase doesn't have FL Patcher like solution and it's even better than Patcher(macros, modulator, racks, mixer etc. etc.) I can only recommend it (Mulab as a DAW seems a bit limited to me compared to Cubase)

patterns in Cubase can be emulated with Nora, Effectrix as effect sequencer can be used nicely(as in the video above)

i went from orion to samplitude and lately bidule.
not at all similar, but they both have midi and audio, not sure what else you need specifically, if its the pattern based aspect, then fl might be the obvious, but if you dont like it

its only vst3 you dont have though?
so unless youre looking at new vsts its not essential is it?
