Rivanni wrote: Thu Oct 22, 2020 2:38 pmGiven the constant complaints of Bitwig users about the lack of workflow improvements, I doubt that this is such good advice. :clown:
Compared to Cubase, Logic, Studio One or Reaper we - Bitwig users - miss a lot of QoL stuff.

Compared to Live, not so much. Like it or not, Live & Bitwig are very similar in this area, both having some things that other doesn't, but both lacking significantly vs. the DAWs I mentioned :)

True, but you can keep correcting that until the end of time.

I use Logic and Live. Certain Live features Logic lacks and vice versa. There is no 'lacking significantly' in it.

[And the constant BW references are truly awesome. Completely hardcore madness, bravo.]

My own tip for the OP as I leave the thread: focus on what Live does well, quickly banging stuff out without thought, let your instincts rule you til you've got something cool in Session. Then switch to Arrange ASAP and get cracking on structure so as not to get bogged down in endless 16-bar chunks.

@Rivanni mentioned Bitwig users asking for "worklow improvements and those are what you'd call "traditional DAW" features, like audio comping, pitch correction, ARA2 support, advanced MIDI & audio editing, chord track, adding same plugin to several tracks at once, VCAs, etc. Those are the types of things that Logic et all have, and that Live & Bitwig don't. Hence my reply.

Try reading with understanding, instead of getting foam on the mouth whenever you see me post :)

One thing I do is to finish the major work with a Drum Rack and then select element of the chain and use Extract Chain command to automatically create additional Drum Racks with those elements and remove them from the original Drum Rack for separate processes and repeat as needed and then Group the whole thing if needed.

Nice try as well.
Ableton it’s still a A class regardless and you fell to a B class regardless.

Off course personal opinions but it’s true anyway :D

Yeah, both Live and Bitwig are so far behind the 'traditional' DAW's in those sorts of tools they aren't likely to ever catch up... and they may not even have the intention to do so.

indeed, i thought that was the point?

They are no supposed to be “traditional” but they are facing workflow competition, and as such, they need to balance the approach.

Are Wavelab and Spectral Layers a part of Cubase? I've liked Ableton Live's audio features, but I've looked at Wavelab and Spectral Layers (I sometimes use Audacity to edit instead of Live). What edge does Cubase have here?

There are multiple ways to do this in Live: group tracks, create a send, copy and paste. What am I missing?
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

No that. I mean simple things, like you can see here for example:

This happens when people use a DAW very superficially or they collect negative comments over several forums and make them their own or maybe it’s something that it’s not really a recurring workflow action but since it’s not there and they need sporadically then the DAW sucks.

Of course then, let’s look for the green grass.

Ableton it’s awesome but have the persistent to really get to know it rather then just compare and complain.

I spent two years on the other clone and I realize that for my workflow and production needs, it’s no good enough. Period.

Since no DAW it’s perfect, dig it damn seriously.
