Yeah, a real shame. Time after time they release the same basic plugins with hardly any changes and declare them a new version. If this was a U-He plugin, they’d be calling it 1.3. Now that there are synths with polyphonic aftertouch on the market for decent prices, at least add that, if not true MPE.
It is just how it is... AAS hasn't done any new sound generation code in over a decade. I accepted that long ago.

I do wish they would implement MPE, but who knows if that will ever happen. I expect to upgrade to Chromaphone 3. The reports of high cpu use have me holding off for now until that is sorted out. I can always use multiple instances for playing with my Linnstrument.

Mhh, I didn't notice too much of an extra CPU hit in String Studio 3 which has become my favorite AAS instrument right after the first couple hours with it but I'm not in a rush; still fine with CP2 and the rest of the updated Modelling Collection so until I see green light in this thread I just burn my €€€ somewhere else.
(PS: not holding my breath for Brass or Woodwind Studio anymore, shame shame, AAS.)

Is there anyone still at the company that was part of the original team that built everything? What else could explain the lack of innovation? It almost feels like someone made all the plugins years ago and then these guys came along, stole the code and pushed him off a bridge.

Two out of three.
AAS was founded in 1996 by Marc-Pierre Verge (physicist-acoustics) and Philippe Derogis (mathematician-acoustics) using algorithms they developed during their studies. They were joined in 1998 by Stephane Tassart (software engineer). Together they created Tassman. Stephane left long ago (currently at Blackmagic) so they may have no money to do research & no skills to code complex DSP-based software. Perhaps they can only develop GUIs.

I kinda see AAS like Virsyn. Both companies which were previously very innovative with Tassman and TERA.

Both AAS founders have a master degree in acoustics and you're assuming they can not code complex dsp based software ?
Smart guys like these can pick up coding a few years ., or at least the time between 2 releases

Apparently not many people in the world can, which is why AAS products still remain quite unique for all these years.

Also, not everyone who has degree in something can write working software. As we all know, skilled software developers are rather scarce.

The year before last they collaborated with intellijel to produce a eurorack module based on their code

I'm surprised CrusherX dev never released a physical modeling plugin. They released the Physmod sound generator long before they focused on granular. From memory it ran on opensource hardware and was ported to Windows.

I still have a copy somewhere.
Referred to as a 'generator' as it generated samples, though it was pretty fast considering the shit PC I ran it on.

Isn't it the AAS stuff that is the basis of most of the instruments in Live suite as well....they probably do quite well from that!
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S49MK2, Studio One, BWS, Live 12. PUSH 3 SA, Osmose, Summit, Pro 3, Prophet8, Syntakt, Digitone, Drumlogue, OP1-F, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Nord Drum3P, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

There's a number of instruments carrying the AAS logo in Ableton Live. Just opened it and can see AAS logos on Analog, Collision, Electric and Tension.

Are you safe?
