In general, I am happy to pay for updates that focus on UI and UX improvements (if i feel thatit is an improvement), don’t need masses of new gear. Better usability trumps new gear, imho. Amplitube is way to crowded anyway for my personal taste and I very rarely use AT4 as it is.
I pretty much prefer software with less options where i can get results fast to over-boarding flexibility. YMMV.

AT5 looks good:
• New power amp modeling for ALL existing amps.
• Over 140,000 impulses, remeasuring ALL existing cabs.
• New power amp and speaker interaction modeling for ALL existing models.
• New impedance matching for ALL existing models.
This all may very well resolve the veiled cab dynamics that I talked about earlier. Based on the AmpliTube 5 audio clips, it sounds like it does. I compared these audio examples to Softube’s Marshall clips, and AmpliTube 5 sounds quantifiably better.
AmpliTube’s clean tones have always sounded like they weren’t quite amplified. They sound absolutely electric now in these clips. That must be the new power amp modeling at work.
Also, I’m really looking forward to the MXR Distortion+ and SansAmp Bass Driver DI. They are sure to become staples.

I still hate the fact that there is a 'shop' built in, how easy it is to hide all this shit and not see gear you don't own at any time will determine if I bother with this....'more easily sort by gear you own or don’t own' isn't what I wanted, I wanted the shop gone, if anything it looks more prominent: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/a ... p?p=images
I'm not sure what I think about the GUI- glad its resizable but I think it may look a bit cluttered, a bit of a mess?
IK site now with prices/versions etc
AmpliTube 5 - $/€149.99 + VAT upgrade
AmpliTube 5 MAX - $/€299.99 +VAT upgrade
I have Amplitube 4 MAX (bought in March this year) and they want €359.99 to upgrade from the most recent version.
I hope this is a mistake and they just haven't done the upgrade from the last version pricing yet....

This is also what I am looking at closer as well. I need to try out the demo to truly see that it is. The pre-set browser and its meta data storting is something I use a lot and I always found it a little clunky. Here to hoping its been improved and not just a new GUI front end.davidka wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 8:05 am The things I was most curious about:
Remastered classic gear
AmpliTube 5 also revisits all the original AmpliTube legacy gear, adding not only a fresh new look, but optimized internal gain structure and superior power amp - speaker interaction to maximize their realism and feel.
"All of the legacy gear in Amplitube 5 sports a fresh, new photorealistic look to accompany their crisp, new sound."
New Redesigned Custom Shop
Totally redesigned with a more modern, easy to navigate interface. The new Custom Shop now allows multiple purchases, making it easy to get a custom chain at once. Also, more easily sort by gear you own or don’t own, unlock preset-specific gear and more.
And an all-new preset browser, with new filters and advanced search criteria.
All in all this looks great. I'll be most interested in the actual reviews after release how do the legacy stuff sound, and if the software still pesters users about the gear they don't have.
Need to wait to see some reviews and YT live streams.

Surely I just need the free version. It should upgrade all the items I have already paid for? Which is everything other than Brian May and Joe Satriani. Not bothered by even more amps and effects at this point.

I think you’re misunderstanding. It looks like you will be able to upgrade your existing AmpliTube gear for free by installing AmpliTube 5 CS. The paid upgrade is for the new gear only, and is $99€ for you. The MAX upgrade price is for upgrading to AmpliTube MAX, not from AmpliTube MAX.SLiC wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 10:24 am I have Amplitube 4 MAX (bought in March this year) and they want €359.99 to upgrade from the most recent version.

@jamcat, where did you get that about the "new power amp modeling"? I just read thru the whats new section and saw nothing about that.

re: new cabs? it looks like it might be? need to check demo. to hear it. i also don''t recall being able to import your own IR's in the past -- so this should be new I think.

They apparently focused their efforts on the cabs. The "amp-speaker interaction" sounds like a buzzword to me.
We'll see.

Where did you see that that is the case?jamcat wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 11:37 amI think you’re misunderstanding. I think in general that is how IK works (to their credit), I think the past they limited the CS version from being resizable, but I think that is no longer. Certainly my Sampletank CS allowed me to use all my Sampletank 3 stuff, free of cost.
Kudos to them for that.
Let us hope they never become part of Waves..
