Hi All!
I am trying to route all the drums in a ReDrum kit in the Reason Rack Plug-In to their own individual channels in Reaper.
I've already made a thread on this concerning Kong which (I've read numerous times, slowly and concisely and still non the wiser), I get so far and then that's it.

Now I'm trying to do the same thing with ReDrum. I've assigned the drums I want on ReDrum and created 10 (are they channels?) in the Plug-In Pin Connector.
I have created 10 channels on the TCP. Now I don't understand where to go from here.
Thanks!

did you connect ReDrum's output channels to the individual outputs of the RRP? You gotta flip the rack and expand the output section of the RRP. This video explains it quite well:

No I didn't. I'm too used to Reason and it doing it automatically. Will do it tomorrow first thing.Danilo Villanova wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 12:26 am did you connect ReDrum's output channels to the individual outputs of the RRP? What's that Reaper skin you're using? Looks very Logic Pro X-ey?

Yeah it's iLogic v.3 point something. Think there's another update since the one I've got. Nice eh. About the best I've found.antic604 wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 10:25 amWhat's that Reaper skin you're using? Looks very Logic Pro X-ey?

Sorted it but still have an issue.
It's better if you right click the TCP blank area and choose "insert virtual instrument on new track". Then choose yes for it to create the new outputs. Then add the Reason Rack Plug-In then wire it up and un-highlight the little red boxes in the RRP as shown in the video above.
The issue I've got now though, Track 1 is the RRP with Redrum on it, then I have Stereo Out, then all the drums underneath. If I folder everything below the RRP the sound disappears but if I folder it from the Stereo Out and below it's fine.
I just moved the Stereo Out to the top and then foldered it all (see pic - doesn't look like it's foldered but it is, it's how the Logic theme displays, if I click again they hide completely) and labelled it Drum Master and it's fine that way. Just wondered why the sound disappears if I folder it with the RRP at the top and everything else under it?

the routing setup will be like this: the rack plugin track is sending nothing to the master, it's sending audio (pre-fader) via different channels to your stereo out tracks, which are then going to the master.
what'd happen if you tried to use the reason rack track as the top level in a folder, is audio goes from plugin track to stereo out track -> back to plugin track -> out to master but also back to stereo out track = earsplitting feedback loop! there's a couple things preventing this: by default reaper won't let you create feedback loops with internal routing, so what you should see when you play stuff in redrum is none of the track meters in reaper move (except for whatever channels are playing in the rack plugin track).
but also - the rack plugin track having its master send disabled means that as a parent folder track it won't send anything out anyway, and the stereo out tracks won't send to the master because they're inside the folder.
what you can is put all the stereo out tracks in a folder separately from the plugin track. i.e. make a track underneath the plugin track and use this new track as the folder, chucking the stereo outs underneath it.
now your plugin track is just a glorified MIDI track - you can, if you want, hide it in the mixer. open up the track manager, find your plugin track, click the little button in the MCP (i.e. mixer control panel) column. now it's hidden in the mixer but visible in the track control panel.
now go back to the track control panel and select all your tracks, right-click, save as track template. now you have a template - which you can insert in a project like you'd do any other track - that's saved the state of all your tracks and any plugins on them.
