Does anybody here use apply melody as I'm using RC on my PC but when I apply melody to my own custom phrases the pitch and the key range goes out of range for example if the phrase was D to G minor after applying melody it goes F minor to C minor ,just wanted to know if everybody gets this problem or is it just a bug that I have as I would expect it to stay in the same key range but just change the shape to match the melody

I installed the most recent beta and get the following error when I run my DAW:
I uninstalled v3 after installing the v4 beta. Could it be related to that? I have no need to run v3 anymore.

Solved my problem by creating a RapidComposerV3 folder and copying contents from V4 folder. Probably not something new users would know to do.
Thanks, Attila, for all your good work!

RapidComposer v4.0b3 is available!
Hopefully all initial issues are fixed now.
If the color theme looks strange, that is because there are some new colors introduced. Please re-load the "Dark" theme under Settings / User Interface. Other themes have not been updated yet.
It is strongly recommended to do a clean install of the v4 beta by removing Documents/RapidComposerV4 before installation.
Version 3 and 4 can be run side by side without issues.
Improvements:

Improvements:
- New "Label Color" added for labels (less emphasized texts in the UI)
- Remaining issues with loading compositions (when using variations) have been fixed
- Fixed: issues with MIDI CC's that resulted silent playback

I'm wondering, why "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins" ?
Do folks actually like this as a default plug-in installation location, or like me, are they backspacing their life away with every new beta?

Hi,
Great to have sound! The sound does crackle a bit, FWIW. (v3 did not).
OK, here's a crash -
New Comp. Apply the Chord Generator. Double-click to open the phrase in the editor. Select and delete all the notes on beats 2, 3, 4. So far so good. Now select all the notes left on beat one and try to extend them with the pencil tool. Crash!

4.03. My old track templates don't work (
Newly created works well. You will have to re-create.

That's actually not the "official" directory for plugins as designed by Steinberg.. However, the manufacture of the plugin can put them anywhere they want. The user can put them anywhere they want. A great example is Native Instruments and their libraries. They don't use what is defined by Steinberg. (Steinberg developed the VST format and own it) (To develop a VST, you have to get a license from Steinberg)sj1 wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 7:17 pm I'm wondering, why "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins" ?

With that said, you are playing with functionality fire at some point. The absolute safest thing to do is use what the developer of the VST suggests for the directory.
I sometimes write code for audio as well, (nothing that anyone could use, and mostly it's educational for me) and the libraries I use use follow the Steinberg suggested directory structure..
At one point, I was going to write a utility for RC, but, Steinberg made extremely difficult to do so, "legally" under their terms, so, I dropped it. I missed the licensing cutoff by about a month.
This link shows what that structure is for both Mac and Windows and the various types of VST formats..
