I wish I get just figure out what buying Amplitube 5 SE would give a MAX 4 owner over just downloading the CS version and using my gear. The question has been asked so many times in the thread on gearslutz and Peter kept saying you get the new gear and features. What features are in SE that are not in CS?

there is a pdf of the comparison. *i think* with SE the new features are going to be the new enhancements of AT *without* the new cabs and amps. For example, if you search for "Silver Plate" or "German 34", which are some of the new AT 5 amps, they only show up in AT 5, and not SE or CS.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2020 12:49 pm I wish I get just figure out what buying Amplitube 5 SE would give a MAX 4 owner over just downloading the CS version and using my gear. This is why I am getting annoyed. For example, I have and use the Jazz Amp 120. That is listed as available in AT 5 as part of AT 5 SE, AT 5 and AT 5 Max but not AT 5 CS. But that is an amp I own. So does that mean it's going to be an updated version of Jazz Amp that is going to sound different than Jazz Amp that was in AT 3 and AT 4, or does it mean you now get Jazz Amp if you buy AT 5 SE (if you didn't own it before) but it will load in AT 5 just as it does in AT 4 and AT 3? There is no mention as to whether IKM did any work on these legacy Amps? So are you paying for Jazz Amp to be re-sizable or are you paying for Jazz amp to sound like a more modern version of it?

This has been answered: if you buy SE, once you restore your gear, all of your old gear will still be there and will include the updated cabinets and power amp sections. So it should, in theory, "sound better." It's DEFINITELY going to be there, and DEFINITELY going to sound different. Peter explicitly said so at least on the Gearslutz thread.telecode wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2020 1:12 pmthere is a pdf of the comparison. *i think* with SE the new features are going to be the new enhancements of AT *without* the new cabs and amps. The question for me is the CS/free version and what's going to be missing from that.

Yes. It has been answered that your existing gear will be there. What hasn't been answered is will it be updated sounding gear or just legacy gear that loads in a prettier GUI.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2020 1:17 pmThis has been answered: if you buy SE, once you restore your gear, all of your old gear will still be there and will include the updated cabinets and power amp sections. Go half-way down this page: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/a ... php?p=info to "Choose the version ..." for links to the gear PDFs for each edition and a comparison PDF.

Yes this is my question as well. And this is what hasn't been answered. Like I said, what is SE giving me over CS if I already have MAX 4? Do we somehow not get the updated cabs and power amps of existing gear? Or does owning certain gear mean that the power amps and cabs are updaetd for those no matter which version of Amplitube we use. I really like IK stuff but what a messy licensing scheme.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2020 1:17 pmThis has been answered: if you buy SE, once you restore your gear, all of your old gear will still be there and will include the updated cabinets and power amp sections. The answer being: just buy everything, and all will be well. But with IK, even MAX isn't max. Sometimes. Or not. It depends.
Anyways, I'm especially curious about the revamped amps. Wll it really make a difference sound and performance-wise? Or will it just be "one louder"?

I'm sorry to yell, but it has been answered. Even by me, in the post you quoted. Peter said so in the Gearslutz thread which you're participating in.
It will have the new Power Amp section, and the new Cabinets for your existing gear. They will sound updated in AT5 SE or AT5. You seem to be looking for some kind of dirty trick where there isn't one. You're not going to lose anything. Everything you currently own will be there will sound different, hopefully better.
The only question that I think is still unclear is: what's the difference between Amplitube 5 CS and Amplitube 5 SE if I just want to use my existing gear. That question is being obfuscated right now. But in regards to will it sound different? Definitely in AT 5 SE and AT 5. Probably with AT 5 CS, but there's a question as to how/what's limited in CS vs SE.

It does seem almost to good to be true that we will get a free update for everything we own (a lot in MAX 4) with improved sound, a resizable interface and the ability to turn off the stupid shop to only show what we own. It was all I wanted really, so I have no need to spend anything!

No point yelling. But I have been following the discussions, I don't think he said that. What he said is you are getting "updated sounding gear" with respect to the 5 new amps that have been added to AT 5 "if" you buy "AT 5". All the gear that came with the collections has not been updated. I have seen nowhere where he states the amps and cabs in Mesa Boogie, Fender Collections is among the "the new features like the VIR™ with the 143,000 IRs etc etc. " or that things like Fulltone FX have been updated. He just said, "yes" they will all work fine without problem in AT 5. So it brings us back to the shaft that existing customers are getting.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2020 4:42 pmIT WILL BE UPDATED SOUNDING GEAR!!!telecode wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2020 1:33 pm

Anyways, lets just wait to see and try out CS when it's released as see what it actually does on your system which has AT 4 and the other collections installed on it.
But before you keep posting, you really should look closley at that pdf spreadsheet that details the components of the different versions in Amplitube 5. And pay special attention to where "SilverPlate 50, MiniPlex 20, Friedman Pink, New York B750, German 34, VHandcraft 4, VariDiode+" are listed on that sheet. They are the "new upgraded gear" and they are not under Amplitube 5 CS or Amplitube 5 SE columns.

Telecode...sounds pretty clear to me....page 1 on Gearslutz
https://www.gearslutz.com/board/showpos ... stcount=25
Again...apologies if I'm coming across like a d*ck about it, but I feel like the answer of "will they sound different" (yes) has been done and settled since shortly after the original announcement and for whatever reason is still being questioned.

Why you would think they'd somehow keep the old models and cabinets around just to go out of their way to make it extra complicated and screw over users of previous versions is honestly beyond me at this point.Peter IK wrote:Yes see above. But for full features and more gear, you'd want to consider upgrading to Amplitube 5 SE or Amplitube 5.Originally Posted by dflt wrote: and will the older purchased collections/gear work in the new Amplitube 5 cs?

I think everyone is saying the same thing, just differently. Obviously with SE or full Amplitube 5, all your existing gear will benefit from updated power amps and cabinets, and you will also get some brand new gear as per the pdf. I don' think anyone is confused about that. So I don't know why people keep pointing to those documents. The only thing nobody knows yet is whether using CS and existing gear (like MAX 4 stuff) will also get all the benefits for the existing gear as when using A5 or A5 SE. Ie. power amps, cabinets, VIR, resizing, all routing options etc.
Peter keeps saying you get "full features" with SE over CS, but what features? (When using gear you already own). But I think on gearslutz he said he was going to come back with that info. Haven't seen it yet.

You'll get the cabinets (see my post quoting Peter above) in the free version. I would be completely dumb-founded if they used the old Power Amp models. That would be EXTRA work and make no sense. So let's assume that too.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2020 6:19 pm I think everyone is saying the same thing, just differently. So where does that leave us with CS? Will you get resizing? Maybe, maybe not. TRacks CS finally got it. Maybe IK isn't being too precious with that any more.
Will you get VIR? Doubt it. Very much like IK to hold something like that back. They'll probably not let you move the microphones. Routing options? Maybe they'll limit that too.
And in two or three years they'll add VIR in like they did with the Cab Room in AT4 CS years after release, and like they added resizing in Tracks 5 years after release.

I'd like to assume that but when Peter's quote does not say Amplitube CS, he just says Amplitube. He's been a bit evasive and I'm not convinced he was answering based on the free version that was asked. But I agree, I would expect that any products you own should get their new cabs in CS. Otherwise your product is not really complete currently. I mean if someone bought only Fender 2 collection, they would use it in the CS version, so it should have everything new about the Fender 2 collection, including any new cabs.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2020 6:23 pm You'll get the cabinets (see my post quoting Peter above) in the free version. Given that I can move microphones around currently with Amplitube 4, it would be strange if I could not do that with the products I own in the new CS version wouldn't it? Like I said above, if somewhere buys only the Fender 2 collection today (or rather, after 5 is released), the platform they would use it on would be the new A5 CS. So they would not be able to move mics around the cabinet? I don't know, I guess we'll find out.So where does that leave us with CS? Will you get resizing? Maybe, maybe not. TRacks CS finally got it.
