How close does it sound to the real thing? I will only respect the opinions of those who spent thousands on an original vintage unit. Not the Behringer or Korg remakes.

I mean it costs £20 so they're not going to say it sounds the same as either their precious hardware or what the precious hardware sounded like years ago when their ears worked properly.v1o wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 8:26 pm How close does it sound to the real thing? that's quite the demands to have towards 25$ soft synth.
"he will only respect the opinions of those who spent thousands on an original vintage unit". pfft, get over yourself, dude.
if you want "the real thing", how about you spend not 25$, but 25K on the real 2600? then you can cherry pick.

Peter Kirn, founder of Create Digital Music (CDM), has released a snap review of our new CA2600: "This could be the easiest and most inexpensive way to put the epic 1971 semi-modular synth in your rig. Cherry Audio has a killer ARP 2600 recreation – and it costs only US$25."
"It’s exceptionally well balanced between original features and additions."
"The UI is also fantastic."
"It is stupidly easy to get to things like filter modulation and FM with an ARP 2600 – and when the modeling is this good, it’s equally stupidly easy to make those sound good."
"And … wow, yeah, that ARP sound."
"This thing got under my skin – in a good way."
"There are a number of decisions here that make this not only an amazing deal at $25, but at any price in software."
"The filter sounds authentic in its default mode, but you also get bandpass and highpass plus a choice of 12 db or 24 dB slopes."
"The reverb now includes a gorgeous plate option in addition to the signature ARP spring. Its character is just perfect for your next ambient patch; you are likely to love flipping that switch."
"I am sure it will become a fast favorite for me, and maybe you, too."

I noticed that a lot of the presets in the audio demo, had clicks in their start. The bad kind of click you get with interrupting a low frequency sinewave and such.
Is this something the user can tweak away? Or perhaps there is a fix coming?

Price and branding are more important. If you buy cheap gear you don't think much of it. Frankly the Behringer brand is well tarnished. If you look online you will find more mixed reviews of the Behringer Model D. Whereas the $3000 Moog model D reissue has near universal positive reviews.EvilDragon wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 8:37 pmBehringer sounds as good as the real thing.v1o wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 8:26 pm How close does it sound to the real thing? If you aren't ever going to spend more than a grand on a synth then they may as well be arguing about who makes the tastiest dodo pie.v1o wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 9:12 pm Price and branding are more important. Does this have an effect version too? Are there any sonic differences between the different versions such as the Blue Marvin, as there was originally, or are they just skins?

I think they’re just visual skins, but I could be wrong.
I can't see a separate FX plugin so think it's built to be both instrument and effect.

Pity, the Korg Arp plugin does that nicely.

Yes it (the Odyssey one) does that well. Just checked and it’s under a dropdown called “Theme” rather than “Model” and all layouts are identical except for colour.
