Everyone's seen this old video right?

Before the results were revealed, more people picked Diva as the hardware.

Oberhausen and Diva are only variations on a theme in the sense that most subtractive analog synths probably share a very similar structure and layout. But Diva is capable of a much wider palette of sounds. Oberhausen is a nice little synth, but it is pretty limited compared to Diva. Even Obsession has the advantage of allowing you to tweak each voice which you can't do in Oberhausen and could do in an Oberheim 8-Voice. The fact that with TMT on you get voice variation but 8 independent LFOs per voice is kinda annoying. Wish they just made voice tabs with the ability to sync the LFOs. Nice sounding filter though. Have no idea if it's accurate, but it's super smooth.
There is so much empty space at the bottom, they could easily do it like this:

How does the chorus sound? It has few controls, but that doesn't have to mean much if it is done well under the hood.
I don't like the way the typical U-he chorus sounds, e.g. in Diva.

It's just the Plugin Alliance Blue Chorus which is a model of a Boss CE-2. I never A/Bd the plugin the the hardware but having both, I don't think highly of the plugin.

Boss is Roland, right? Then again, the pedal was intended for guitars, I take it, not synths, unlike the Juno chorus.

Yes on all fronts. The CE-2 hardware is a great sounding Chorus and works on synths, I just don't think Brainworks actually did a BBD model in their emulation, or very good one. Maybe I'll do a comparison one day.

That guy has good sound design skills he could make anything sound Oberheimy. He should do patches for Oberhausen and Obsession.

No doubt that being good at sound design is key. I believe the story is that he only became a pro sound designer when he released that bank, and still puts out banks regularly and I believe does some sound design for other U-he products.

Here's my honest take on Bx Oberhausen:

1. The filter sounds super smooth - great filter.

2. Based on my other Brainworks emulations, which I don't think highly of, I'd be really surprised if the Oberhausen filter was spot on with a SEM. I wouldn't be surprised if they just took a great filter design and plugged it under an Oberheim-like GUI. Still, great filter.

3. The lack of full on ADSR is annoying.

4. The "TMT in a synth" implementation sucks. You can't detune individual voices like an Oberheim 8-voice or Obsession, but you can turn TMT on to get in the ballpark. But when you turn TMT on, all the LFO's are out of phase with each other. Why not add some modern options?

5. The effects are on the poor side (chorus, delay, and verb specifically).

6. The browser implementation is pretty basic, though slightly better than Synapse's.

7. It sounds pretty good.

It's not amazing, it's not terrible. At $29 it's a bargain, at regular price it's a joke.

Someone really should make a comparison with the original.

Frankly thought, it has enough of the character I hear here to keep me satisfied (especially 3:30):

Yes, I know, they have different filters.

Here's some more:

You can definitely get very close with Oberhausen to the filter oomph sound at about 0:20 of the second video.

I missed the last PA deal (29,99). Should I expect to see a similar price on black friday?
