Wicked combo.

So it turns out that I'd forgotten Doepfer PSU2's dont have a 5V line, just the PSU3.
And the little Doepfer 5V adaptor you get doesnt seem to work for this.
So this has had to go into what was previously a full G9 case, replacing the A-112 Sampler, at the furthest corner of my system . Hmm. Not an ideal place. Maybe I need to move the Owl but that means moving a mixer which means...
fuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
This is why I always just added more cases, I cant do that ongoing balancing act of constantly swapping and moving stuff.
(As suspected the battery on the A-112 looks a bit, erm, past it. Well, furry actually. I suppose this is the excuse to replace it. If only I had somewhere to solder at the moment. FFS.

Just got myself a post-the-last-lockdown-pre-the-next-lockdown treat, ASM Hydrasynth getting delivered tomorrow. Should be fun.
I was v close to pulling the pin on a Summit, still have plans to get one at some point maybe if I trade in my Deepmind, but then the Hydrasynth popped up at a local dealer for £200 off as ex-display. Apparently it had been unboxed, used by one demonstrator once and then re-boxed! Managed to get the warranty extended to 3 years for £50 so pulled the pin on the deal.
Looking forward to getting confused by Poly AT.

just put in the corner and buy some long as cables.
i had this idea that the mantis lay flat and the makenoise skiff would become my control deck, with all the fun stuff in the twin vertical mantis, but as its filled up, ive realised my laziness outweighs my organisation skills, so now a patch can consist of 10/15 2m cables because of the way my system is "designed"
tbh, i was pissed off about having to move a couple of modules to get the spa next to grandpa, so redoing the whole shebang, forget it!

oxidation, basically. I bought a couple of replacement batteries a year or so ago (The other is for the MCV24) cos I knew it'd need done.

I know this scenario well. Ive tried to organise stuff but it turned into 'a box of oscillators 1.5m away from the box of filters and 2m away from the nearest LFO.'

I just remembered to bring something to people's attention, probably only of interest to anyone in the UK, but Dawson's music is having deals on some synths and one I considered was the Roland System 8 they are selling for £949 inc VAT and they are offering 12 months 0% finance on that, just need to stick down a 10% minimum deposit. Best price on a brand new System 8 that I've seen.

I wasn't expecting to pick up anything else this year, but I was noticing that my 5-year-old PC is often running at 70 or 80% CPU use once a session really gets going, and started contemplating maybe getting a workstation to provide some of the instrumentation and lighten the load on the computer. Kept looking for a good price on a used Montage or Kronos and one or two other options (and let some good deals pass by because I couldn't choose).
Finally, it occurred to me that the software and sample libraries I already have surpass anything I'm apt to get from any of the workstation keyboards, and decided to just upgrade the computer. Spent a fair bit less than a Montage or Kronos would have run me and ordered an 8-core i9 with 32GB RAM and two M.2 drives.
The downside of course is the thought of how much stuff I'm going to have to re-install. Whereas I usually anticipate the arrival of new music gear with pure enthusiasm, this time it's going to be mixed with a heavy sigh at the amount of work I've just made for myself.
