If I can detract from the confusion for just a moment, I’m hoping to get some input as to whether or not I should jump on the A5 bandwagon. I know none of us have actually heard A5 yet, so any advice I can get will be somewhat limited. With that in mind...

I already have a Helix Floorboard. I’ve bought Komplete for years now, and I’m just waiting for the next big sale to upgrade and get GR6. I have lots of pedals, including the very nice new Chase Bliss Automatone preamp mkII. I also qualify to get Helix Native for $99. And I already picked up MixBox.

With that in mind, does it make any sense at all for me to pick up A5 Max at the upgrade/crossgrade price?

Any thoughts?

Seems like Helix native would be the best value and make sense in your setup.

Yes, Helix Native when on sale even less than $99 for you, deastman. On the other hand do you really need some more amp/effects at this point? What are you looking for exactly? Are you unsatisfied with your current setup? Don't rush at least. That always helps me when I got the itch called G.A.S. without a real reason.

If I’m being honest with myself, I really want the Fulltone effects collection. I realize that I could just use the custom shop version and buy the Fulltone collection for that. It just seems like if I’m going to commit to A5 on any level, I might as well go all-in and explore everything else that it has to offer. On the other hand, it isn’t like I’m dissatisfied with the Helix hardware in any way. I suspect I would end up running synths through all the guitar amps and cabs in A5, and stick with the Helix for guitar. I do like the overall interface of A5 better than the Helix software, but they’re both perfectly usable.

Reading all that makes my head hurt.

I find it interesting that of the 19 new racks effects, 18 are lifted directly from MixBox. The only really new rack is the Shimmer Reverb.

Post

Yes, and IKM did state this "and 19 built-in effects with a selection derived from T-RackS 5". But the point is that they are now integrated into AT5.

If you're going to run keyboards through it, one of the best amps for that looks as though it's in SE: the JC120. The Fulltone collection has been on a pretty heavy discount in the past and I'm sure there'll be a group buy along at some point that will let you pick up four or five for one (so you can get the Fender and Ampeg stuff easily) - as long as you're happy to wait.

I wonder if this includes Total Studio 2 MAX. If I bought Total Studio 2 MAX now, would I get the upgrade to AmpliTube 5 SE for free?
That’s a good question. It doesn’t specify if that applies to AmpliTube MAX or Total Studio, though both “includes AmpliTube 4.”

Hopefully we can get some official clarification.

According to a post on another site the answer is no. Upgrades only apply to AT bought standalone not in a bundle,
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Does that include AmpliTube MAX?

Anyone have a link to that info?

I think you just subtly called me (and a few others that didn't get it) thick! :D
Sorry I didn't see that but it was a NUMBER that was redacted :D

DFoisie wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 5:36 pm Definitely disappointing, and herein lies the problem I've had with IKM for awhile: complete lack of loyalty towards those who have purchased in the past. Despite having total studio max 2, there is no upgrade pricing (same intro for everyone new/old) and the only option that will likely benefit me now (aside from the free version) is amp 5 max. I really enjoy your plugins, but the business choices are less than ideal. I understand its cheaper than me buying the expansions individually, but don't you see that people who have yet to invest anything in AmpliTube are to benefit exponentially more. Just makes no sense. I'm better off waiting till total studio 3 to upgrade than to buy amp 5 and have to try to sell it later (which im far too familiar dealing with when I chose to upgrade to total studio max 2). Rant over.
Not true. New users would pay $/€100 more than the listed AmpliTube 5 MAX upgrade/crossgrade pricing for example. Please see the news for the information and it states the prices listed are upgrade/crossgrade and new users definitely show $/€100 more when on our site (just verified this yet again, since I thought there must be an error for people to miss/misunderstand this repeatedly but alas, it is there).

Seems a touch extreme to ask current users who have probably paid several hundred Euros in the past, to now pay €299 plus VAT (so €359) when a new user could get it from €399.

Are most updates from other companies not doing this the other way around, like they've already got the several hundred from their existing users, so only charge them around €100 for an upgrade?
Yes, it's awful to offer not only the full new gear and features of a massive update AND $680 worth of collections for less than half that...
