Yeah, no one would miss the part it was banter. Or some angry ableton nerds may be offended. Luckily I get used to not letting them get on my nerves to live daily life peacefully. I recommend you to do so if you haven't.

This kind on perfectly sensible talk can be downvoted only on KvRKinh wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 8:40 am Dont buy things you dont need is the point being made. As far as wanna be producers go, music is their thing, for anyone doing it for fun, it isn't. Those people dont need to keep spending and spending on the latest updates and plugins, no more than an amateur photographer needs to buy a 4k monitor.

If it was a first timer, it was indeed a banter. Given many similar comments in other threads, it is no longer.
Getting angry or offended is independent of what DAW is used by the way.Or some angry ableton nerds may be offended.
And aren't we all nerds.

If you're going to stick with live, yes. If you're planning to buy a better DAW, no.DJ_Hydrocele wrote: Sat Oct 31, 2020 10:17 am I already have Ableton live 9 suite, is it worth upgrading to live 10?

Where did you get that ideaantic604 wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 4:38 pm The definition of a hobby is buying (& spending time on) things that one doesn't need, because they make them happy and are often the thing one works for.
Here a dictionary definitions for "hobby"
a pursuit outside one's regular occupation engaged in especially for relaxation
an activity that someone does for pleasure when they are not working
A hobby is an activity that you enjoy doing in your spare time
So while it's apparent that for many consumers, the act of buying unnecessary things is their main hobby (focusing on audio soft- and hardware seems to be pretty popular on this forum), most don't really see "buying things" as a particularly rewarding or fulfilling hobby in itself.
There are still some of us here whose hobby is "creating music", and the programs and gear we buy are just tools to enable that pursuit.

Yes. And then there are some of us for whom part of the hobby is being curious and wanting to explore new advencements in technology, software, workflow, etc..jon wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2020 11:19 amThere are still some of us here whose hobby is "creating music", and the programs and gear we buy are just tools to enable that pursuit.
If you feel accomplished using Synth1 and one of the free DAWs, then by all means more power to you. I work hard in my daily job to treat myself to a DAW update, new VST or hardware. I'm assuming you work hard and spend that money elsewhere.

I have a feeling he wasn't interested in an answer anyway
Otherwise he'd have asked whether he should get v10 upgrade or buy Bitwig instead
