Apple still works with IBM, for instance on Watson. They have a complete section on their developer website devoted to it, ffs. Yeah completely agree. Everything is pointing to a 13" MacBook Pro and/or Air. I'm hoping that the hype is real and we see equivalent to 8 core 2.4ghz i9 specs in a 13" Macbook Pro without the heat and fan noise.
Even close would be fine for me, the 2012 MacBook Pro here is starting to show it's age, even opening it up and dust cleaning, installing new thermal paste on the CPU and GPU etc. it powers up fan wise using it as a VEP master.

So, I said "let's come back in two years" in this thread. 
Three years has now passed. So, what is the current situation? Does Apple still sell Intel based computers?
Apple has clearly been successful with Apple Silicon, their "locked down" and optimized architecture works great. Downside is that upgrading isn't a thing and the price is still very high.
I did not think AS would be this good. They are a lot better than I expected back in 2020. Esp. for CPU vs battery/power consumption. AS ain't winning the CPU performance race though (by far). AMD has been really good at that for the last couple of years now.

Windows 10/11 runs on Arm as well but pretty much no third party software available. A lot of users buys cheap Windows laptops and then they realize they cant run anything but Office on them. I guess MS could write x86 emulator like Rosetta though..?

The old surface books were insanely sexy and also plagued by thermal issues... It would be awesome to have them back with a proper what efficient CPU/GPU to back them...
